“If I could do it, you could do it,” Abbey recited, as well as, “The more you practice, the easier it gets.”

Abbey and David were together for almost five years—with much of their relationship being documented across four seasons of Love on the Spectrum—before they confirmed they’d parted ways as romantic partners.

Noting the pair “truly value the time they shared and each other,” Abbey, David and their families continued in their April 11 statement, “At this point, they want different things and have decided to go their separate ways, but they remain friends wishing each other the best."

While the former couple have not shared additional insight into why they parted ways, the last season of Love on the Spectrum saw them confront the idea of marriage after their costars Madison Marilla and Tyler White got engaged. 

During the episode, Abbey told her mom she wanted to “be a bride so badly,” adding later to David, "I'm so happy for them. Hopefully we're next."

For his part, David emphasized they’d take that next step when it made sense. 

“Yes, we can only be engaged whenever the time is right,” the 31-year-old said. “Besides, I love you to infinity and beyond."
