Dylan Dreyer Reacts to Hoda Kotb's 'TODAY' Show Exit & Shares Who Could Replace Her
Dylan Dreyer is forecasting a family reunion in her future.
The Today anchor revealed she and Alix Earle share a family connection while interviewing the influencer on Today May 12.
As Dylan explained to cohosts Al Roker and Craig Melvin, “We’re second cousins.”
"Growing up, your dad is like one of seven. You have lots of brothers and sisters," Dylan told Alix of her dad, Thomas "TJ" Earle, who is Dylan's first cousin. "You have a million cousins. The Christmas card, when it arrives every year, there's like 100 people in it."
Alix—who has four siblings, including fellow influencer Ashtin Earle—agreed, saying, "My family's huge."
In addition to confirming they’re related, Alix confessed that she almost pursued a career in broadcast journalism because of watching her cousin on TV "all the time" when she was growing up.
"I took a broadcasting course in college, or it was a little club after school. And I was not very good at it, so I quit," the Dancing With the Stars alum laughed. "But I always wanted to be just like you."
After years of idolizing Dylan from afar, Alix's travels as an influencer brought them together. As Dylan explained, "Funny enough, Alix and I hadn't really met until the Kentucky Derby a couple years ago, for the first time."
As such, Today’s on-air family reunion was a big deal. "This is so cool getting to sit here and do this with you," Alix said, adding it was "such a special day."
And it's not the first time a Today host has discovered a surprising family connection. Dylan said her relationship with Alix was similar to Al's ties to Lenny Kravitz.
After Al spilled the tea during a 2011 interview with Us Weekly, Savannah Guthrie asked him to confirm on Today if he was "Lenny Kravitz's cousin, for real."

"Well, I am, but I wasn't supposed to say it," Al joked. "Now I gave up the monthly stipend."
Al and Lenny later elaborated during a joint appearance on Today that they believe their grandfathers were cousins.
"We both have Roker," Lenny revealed, clarifying, "My mother was Roxie Roker, my grandfather, Albert Roker from the Bahamas. Has to be [related]."
