See Knicks Star Josh Hart's Sons Take Over Press Conference Interview in Adorable Moment
Some slam-dunk milestones require major sacrifices from the WAGs.
Just ask James Dolan. After all, the New York Knicks owner urged players to abstain from sex as they prepared to win the NBA championship, which they did June 13 after the 94-90 Game 5 final against the San Antonio Spurs.
"I had this idea that maybe you should give up sex for the next 10 weeks," Dolan told the players in a March pep talk shared on Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart's Roommates Podcast June 15. "The Spartans, they denied themselves so that they could have an edge. Get the edge."
"Go home. Talk to your wives," he continued, teasing, "don't tell them it was my idea, but let them know what this is going to be like, what your commitment is going to be like and how they're going to have to sacrifice, too."
The 71-year-old—who took charge of the Knicks organization after becoming Madison Square Garden's chairman in 1999—emphasized the team needed to keep any personal troubles off the court and away from practices.
"For the next 10 weeks, this has just got to be all about us," he said. "It's not who we play, it's how we play because I believe this team can beat anybody in the NBA. We've already shown that we can."
If their streak were to end with a win—which it did at the Frost Bank Center in Texas, with Brunson also earning the Bill Russell trophy as the 2026 NBA Finals MVP—Dolan promised everyone would receive a gift for their dedication.
"When you go home and you talk to your brides and your significant others, I do want you to tell them one thing that I said," the billionaire emphasized. "When we win the championship, we will get rings and when we get rings, so will they. I will buy a ring for each one of your significant others because their contribution is going to be very important to this team's win."

As for players who don't have a WAG cheering them on?
"If you don't have a significant other, most of you do," Dolan added, "find someone that is sharing this journey with you for the next 10 weeks and make that person come with you."
