Karl-Anthony Towns Credits Fiancée Jordyn Woods' Lucky Bag for Knicks’ Championship Win
Jordyn Woods was not going to take one for the team—not even the Knicks.
NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns revealed that his fiancée was not thrilled by the March pep talk Knicks owner James Dolan gave to the team ahead of their NBA playoffs run, where he suggested the team take a 10-week break from sex.
“I’m a happily engaged man,” Towns said during a June 16 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, referencing Dolan’s speech which recently went viral. “I will definitely say, when I came home, and I told my fiancée what he said, she didn’t like to hear that one.”
Towns’ teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart shared a clip of Dolan’s pep talk on their podcast's social media account June 15 after they secured the NBA Championship against the San Antonio Spurs two days earlier.
“I had this idea that maybe you should give up sex for the next 10 weeks," Dolan said in the video. “The Spartans, they denied themselves so that they could have an edge. Get the edge."
Dolan encouraged the players to let their wives “know what this is going to be like, what your commitment is going to be like and how they're going to have to sacrifice, too.”
And while Dolan promised to buy not only the Knicks players, but also their wives and girlfriends rings upon winning the championship, that wasn’t something Woods needed to worry about.
After all, the 28-year-old—who got engaged to the Knicks player in December—shared in an Instagram post after the team’s championship win, “You always said, ‘When I get my ring, I’ll get you yours,’ and somehow it happened exactly that way.”

Woods assured she didn’t believe in any superstition—even pushing back on the fan theory that her own Woods by Jordyn handbag won the Knicks their title. Indeed, the influencer opted to give her fiancé and his team all of the credit.
“To my soon-to-be husband and best friend: you did it,” Woods added in her post. “I couldn’t be more proud of you. Watching the humility you’ve carried through every high and low, the way you put your faith before everything else, the sacrifices you’ve made, and the joy you’ve brought to every moment has been so inspiring. No ego. Just hard work, gratitude, and an unwavering belief.”
