The Pitt’s Shabana Azeez Reveals Javadi Won’t Be in the ER for Season 3
Hayley Santaflorentina · 2026-06-10 · via E! Online (US) - Top Stories

The Pitt’s Patrick Ball Has Hilarious Reaction to More Potential Cast Changes

Victoria Javadi is leaving her black scrubs behind.

Shabana Azeez, the actress behind The Pitt’s beloved med student, confirmed her character will be heading to a new rotation in season three of the HBO show, which is set four months after the July 4 events of season two.

Reticent to share too much, Azeez confirmed, “I can say that I’m not in the ER this season,” adding to Bustle in the interview published June 10, “I’ve done my ER rotation, so I’m doing my psychiatry rotation.”

After two seasons of Javadi being a staple presence in the emergency room of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, the change serves as a reminder of the realities to which the series must abide. While the exact length varies, most medical student rotations are only four to 12 weeks long, meaning Javadi’s time under the tutelage of Noah Wyles Dr. Michael Robinavitch is long past due.

As for her next location, it should come as no surprise Javadi is headed to psych. After all, the prodigy experienced a bit of a revelation in the season two finale after drawing a picture for Dr. Whitaker (Gerran Howell) of the toll the ER has taken on their coworkers.

“The more time I spend here, the more I realize the importance of my mental health—for patients and for us,” Javadi told Whitaker, who helpfully pointed out, “Well, maybe that’s what you should focus on.”

The audience was able to watch the suggestion land heavily onto the young med student, with Javadi later asking Robby if he thought she could handle a specialty in emergency psychiatry.

Her fate appeared sealed when, in a rare moment of kindness from season two Robby, the senior attending told her, “I think that you could do anything that you put your mind to, Victoria.”

For Azeez, she’s both ready and nervous about her character’s next chapter, understanding the importance of the storyline she’ll be telling.

“It’s a very different vibe for me,” she admitted to Bustle. “And I’m scared and nervous. But it’s an honor to be able to show that part of medicine.”

After all, if The Pitt season two—which saw Robby’s mental health deteriorate, only being pulled back from the edge in the eleventh hour by Shawn Hatosy’s Dr. Abbot—was proof of anything, it’s indeed how important mental health is for medical professionals.

As Wyle himself teased to Vanity Fair in a June 2 interview, “Season 3, doctors benefit from being patients.”

“So, that’s really where our head is at now,” the ER alum continued. “We’re watching this mental health journey take place from total denial to acceptance of a problem to baby steps up and out of his proverbial pit. That’s what we’re working on.”

While The Pitt season three is still in development, there is plenty of exciting TV on the horizon to tide fans over. Read on for more.
