Met Gala 2026 Dress Code Revealed

Elizabeth Debicki was fashion royalty, as always, at the 2026 Met Gala.

But if you had missed The Crown actress turning around for even a second, you didn't see the historic tiara perched on the back of her loose, beachy waves as she walked the iconic staircase at the May 4 event.

Otherwise, her look was pure Greek goddess.

Honoring the event’s “Fashion Is Art” dress code, the 35-year-old wore a Grecian-inspired, mostly ivory gown by Vera Wang. Black fabric around one hip trailed into a train that Elizabeth carried herself, draped over one arm. She sported Footwear for Film LTDA flat sandals along with her dazzling head piece. (See all the stars attending the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual benefit here.)

According to Town & Country, the one-of-a-kind vintage Verdura Jewelry tiara is part of the House of Verdura's Museum Collection and dates back to 1957, when Betsey Cushing Whitney commissioned the tiara to wear when her ambassador husband was presented at Britain’s royal Court of St James.

Made in New York, it boasts 1,223 diamonds for a total of 28.32 carats, and its feather design was inspired by the 1907 $10 gold coin featuring Lady Liberty in a feathered headdress.

And while Elizabeth is no stranger to the annual gala—this year’s theme is “Costume Art”—it was her first time serving on the event’s host committee.

Elizabeth has previously attended the Met Gala four times—in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2024—and at every appearance, she made a statement with her outfit.

In 2016, for the "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" theme, the Night Manager alum wore a green, floral-printed Prada dress. The gown perfectly encapsulated the theme’s focus on the dichotomy between handmade couture (manus) and machine-made fashion (machina), featuring white flower embroidery and embellishments, as well as white sequins and beading.

Three years later, she stepped out on fashion’s biggest night to show off her interpretation of the "Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme. And she certainly understood the assignment, wearing an off-the-shoulder, pink Salvatore Ferragamo gown with a massive bow in the front. She paired the look with white satin gloves and pink pointed-toe heels.

For the 2022 event, she nailed the “Gilded Glamour and White Tie” theme by wearing an off-white Dior haute couture gown with cutouts and a nude underlayer. She kept her accessories simple that year, opting only for a gold headband and a pair of dangly earrings.

And most recently, in 2024, Elizabeth shined at the Met Gala in a strapless gold Dior gown. Leaning into the year’s “Garden of Time” dress code, the Widows star paired her dress with a gold floral headpiece and matching earrings.
