Rob Reiner's Son Jake Reiner Makes First Public Appearance Since Parents' Deaths
Jake Reiner is moving forward.
The 35-year-old made his first public appearance since his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner were murdered in their Los Angeles home in December, stepping out for the premiere of HBO's Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: an Almost History of America June 23.
Jake was all smiles in a gray tee, black pants, a black blazer and black loafers as he posed on the red carpet for Larry David's new show, which he appears in the first episode of as Private Wallace, per his IMDb.
"Attended the premiere of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness this week," Jake wrote on Instagram June 25. "Comes out Friday on @hbo @hbomax, look out for me in the first episode."
And after the podcaster has kept a low profile in the months since his parents' deaths, Jake’s return to the spotlight was met with love and support.
"He can’t change what happened but he can do his best to live a good and happy as possible life to honor his dear parents," one person wrote in the comments of his post. "I’m sure it’s what they’d want. Sending love and positive energy to him and his sister."
Another commented, "For what it’s worth, you got a lot of people wishing you peace and love for the rest of your life."
Jake's first public appearance since his parents' murders—which his younger brother Nick Reiner is currently facing trial for after being charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murder in February, which he pleaded not guilty to—comes after he returned to his podcast The Incline and thanked his well wishers.

"I felt it was time to come back to the podcast,” he said on the May 6 episode. “I just wanted to thank everybody near and far that I’ve heard from since everything has happened. I’ve tried to get back to everyone of you and I will continue to try and respond to people but just know that I’ve seen all the love, all the support out there."
He had previously addressed Rob and Michele’s deaths in a personal essay detailing his grief.

“Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time,” Jake wrote in the April 24 essay shared to his Substack. “It’s too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it’s not a dream. This truly is my living nightmare.”
“Sure, any loss of a parent is devastating," he went on, "but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the center of it. It’s almost too impossible to process.”

Moving forward, Jake made a singular request on behalf of his family, which also includes younger sister Romy, 28.
“I just ask for love and compassion,” he said, “the same principles my parents lived by.”

“Rob was a friend and collaborator through much of my life," the Spinal Tap actor shared to Instagram. "He was funny, he was smart, he was a mensch. When he came to see the comedy act I was in, and, later, the musical comedy I had co-written, his laugh was uproarious and audible around the block."
Harry recalled that when he, Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Rob had ideas for films, Rob "was the one who wrote them on 3x5 cards, and organized them into a movie."
