Radiohead helped Harry Styles reach that watermelon sugar high.
The “As It Was” singer revealed a surprisingly personal detail while introducing Thom Yorke at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards on May 21, where Radiohead's frontman was receiving an Academy Fellowship prize.
“It’s always nerve-wracking stepping onto a stage,” Harry began, "but to know that a man I’ve spent so much of my life listening to is now listening to me talk to you about him is a truly terrifying honor.”
Then, the 32-year-old revealed he has an intimate understanding of one of the band's songs.
“I lost my virginity to ‘Talk Show Host,’” he shared in his speech, before quipping, “I lost my virginity to the intro of ‘Talk Show Host.’”
All jokes aside, the “Watermelon Sugar” artist detailed the serious impact that Thom and the rest of the band has had on him. “Thom’s work is music that is felt,” he added of the 57-year-old. "It’s always been somewhat of a religious experience to me. Religious in the sense that understanding seemed to go both ways.”
But while Harry—who recently became engaged to Zoë Kravitz—was willing to get candid about how he soundtracked his first time, the revelation was a rare one. After all, he hasn’t always been so forthcoming about his sex life.
"For a long time, it felt like the only thing that was mine was my sex life," he told Better Homes and Gardens in April 2022. "I felt so ashamed about it, ashamed at the idea of people even knowing that I was having sex, let alone who with."

Much of that anxiety stemmed from his boy band days in One Direction, during which he had to maintain a certain image.
"At the time, there were still the kiss-and-tell things. Working out who I could trust was stressful," he continued. "But I think I got to a place where I was like, why do I feel ashamed? I'm a 26-year-old man who's single; it's like, yes, I have sex."

In her 2024 memoir Rebel Rising, the Pitch Perfect alum revealed she lost her virginity at the age 35 to a man named "Mickey," though she didn't tell her partner that it was her first time having sex.
She later confirmed in an interview with the New York Times that the man was her How to Be Single costar Mickey Gooch Jr. "He was the first person to read it," Rebel said of her memoir. "So he knows now."
