Tiger Woods Returns to Social Media After DUI Arrest to Honor Late Dad Earl Woods

The 50-year-old was arrested in Jupiter, Fla. for a DUI in March, with Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek confirming in a press conference in March that Woods was under the legal limit of alcohol consumption in a breathalyzer test, but refused a urinalysis, which led to his charge. (Woods pleaded not guilty.)

Following the arrest, the athlete confirmed he was stepping away to focus on his well-being.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself today,” he wrote in a statement on X March 31. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”

Woods—who shares Sam, 18, and Charlie, 17, with ex Elin Nordegren—went on to emphasize his desire for self-improvement. 

“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused place, both personally and professionally,” he continued. “I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
