James Ransone's Wife Jamie McPhee Speaks Out After His Death
James Ransone’s wife is grateful for her inner circle.
Five months after The Wire alum died by suicide, his wife Jamie “Skipper” McPhee shared a tribute for their son Jack’s 7th birthday, where she also touched on the community she’s felt since losing her husband.
“Baby king Jack is 7 today,” Jamie—also mom to daughter Violet, 4, with James—wrote in a May 6 Instagram post. “I can’t believe it. The most handsome, stubborn, funny, affectionate, strong boy and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Love you to the moon and back!”
Accompanying the caption was a carousel of photos depicting sweet family moments over the years of Jack’s life.
Later in the post, Jamie emphasized the gratitude she has felt for her friends and family since her husband died in December, adding, “It takes a village indeed.”
“We love everyone so much,” she continued. “Thank you for all your support, love, kindness, food, tears, and laughs these last five months. I can finally see that every day is a gift so on this one we celebrate Jack together. Thank you thank you thank you.”
In the months since the It: Chapter Two alum died at age 46, Jamie has continued to share touching tributes to him and the strength of their children online.
“I told you I have loved you 1000 times before and I know I will love you again,” Jamie wrote in a Dec. 21 post. “You told me—I need to be more like you and you need to be more like me —and you were so right. Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts - you, Jack and Violet. We are forever.”
Days later, she noted that the “devastating loss” of her husband has also come with an “unbelieveable gift.”
“I have been told countless stories,” Jamie wrote. “And there are probably a hundred thousand more I still haven’t heard of people reconnecting. Of friendships healing after years of silence. Of truths finally being spoken. Of old pain being brought to light and somehow…softening.”
Recalling an emotional conversation she had with her husband in the days leading up to his death, she shared that James told her, “‘I actually love everyone.’”
“Well babe, it turns out that despite all of it,” she added, “Everyone actually loves you too.”
