As for whether she would have gone into acting without being nudged I that direction, Hayden wonders that “all the time.” Though she understands, “I will never know.”

But while Hayden signed custody of Kaya over to Wladimir in 2018 amid the actress’  struggles with postpartum depression and addiction, she said the trio are in a great place these days.

In fact, Hayden made sure Wladimir was aware of everything she was sharing in This Is Me: A Reckoning.

"I stayed very vigilant in keeping him up to date about what was going on in the book, being very protective of our daughter, and in making sure that nothing freaked him out,” she told E! News. "I mean, he was very scared in the beginning, and I had the call was, 'I don't put me in the book,' and I was like, ‘That's gonna be really hard.’”

After all, she and Wlad dated of and on for years before getting engaged in 2013, welcoming Kaya a year later. And though they parted ways for good in 2018, that time together makes up a significant part of Hayden’s history.

"I did end up like checking in with him, sending him like the pages that he was on,” she said, "I was like, ‘Just give it a read, just so you're not like surprised by anything.’"

And thankfully, she and Wlad have a more than civil relationship these days. 

“He's the father of my daughter,” Hayden said. "I want him to be Superman in her eyes, and he's an amazing human being. So, I have nothing negative to say."
