George Clooney and Amal Clooney's Golden Globes Date Night Deserves a Trophy
Amal Clooney is doing things her own way.
The human rights lawyer recently reflected on how some of the worries she had about living a life in the public eye upon marrying husband George Clooney—with whom she shares 9-year-old twins Alexander and Ella—in 2017 have changed throughout their almost 10-year union.
"I used to have my work life and my personal life, and they could look quite different, and I was able to not have them mix," Amal said at a Cartier Speaks event in Bangkok, per People, "and then I got married and that changed quite a lot."
After all, her high-profile marriage meant she had many more eyes on her.
"At first I was kind of conscious of that one-dimensional view,” she explained, "where I felt like, well, I can't be seen wearing this dress or doing this because I'm in front of a judge on Monday."
The 48-year-old ultimately realized that some of those initial worries weren’t worth the stress.
"It just doesn't matter as much as living your life," Amal explained, "and ultimately if you're good at what you do, that is going to shine through or not."
"I wouldn't allow that factor to stop me from doing things that were important for my family or for my relationship," she added. "It was easier when I could decide what kind of exposure I got. It was something new to navigate."

While Amal and the Ocean’s Eleven actor don’t often share details of their relationship, Amal’s glimpse into her inner world come after she recently shared her hopes for her and George's twins.
“I think we want them to stay curious,” she told British Vogue last month, “ask lots of questions and challenge the things that don’t make sense to them like much of what’s going on in the world.”
Meanwhile, George has learned a lesson from his children which has influenced the way that he approaches his career these days.
"I'm not going to be doing a whole lot of major studio kinds of films," George told Variety in an interview published last December. "The films that I'm going to be working on for the most part are going to be smaller. If I'm going to go off and do something and be away from my kids, there has to be a real creative reason for it."
As he put it, "Money isn't an issue for me anymore."

In an interview with Modeliste Magazine, via People, Kristin Cavallari expressed her experience of being a mother to her three kids.
"There's just so much more love in your life. I finally feel like I have a real identity," Cavallari shared. "I feel like I have a purpose here in life now. I'm a mom to these three amazing little babies, and my whole world just kind of opened up."
Shay Mitchell gave a candid interview to Vogue on the stresses and expectations of being a mom.
