You Missed King Charles, Princess Charlotte's Adorable Exchange at Easter Event
King Charles III and Queen Camilla gave Washington, D.C., the royal treatment.
Especially as the royal couple joined President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump for a state dinner at the White House April 28.
Camilla donned a bright pink Fiona Clare gown for the occasion, which featured an embroidered top and flowy pleated skirt. The 78-year-old completed her look with an amethyst and diamond necklace that once belonged to Queen Victoria and is part of the Kent Amethyst Demi-Parure collection, which dates back to 1818.
Melania also opted for a pink look, wearing a blush-colored, one-shoulder Dior gown with draping along the bodice and skirt. The 56-year-old paired the outfit with white Dior suede gloves.
As for King Charles, 77, and President Trump, 79—the two kept classic, wearing black tail tuxedos and white bowties.
Charles and Camilla began their state visit on April 27 to mark 250 years since the United States of America announced its separation from the United Kingdom during the Revolutionary War.
“Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections,” a March 31 Instagram post from the Royal Family explained, “and the modern bilateral relationship between the U.K. and the U.S.”
And history was made with the state visit, with Charles becoming the second-ever British monarch to deliver an address to a joint meeting of Congress on April 28. The momentous occasion came 35 years after his late mother Queen Elizabeth II delivered her speech in 1991.

“Whatever our differences, whatever disagreements we may have, we stand united in our commitment to uphold democracy,” Charles told Congress, “to protect all our people from harm and to salute the courage of those who daily risk their lives in the service of our countries.”
The monarch also met with the president in the Oval Office, while the queen and the first lady joined students who were learning about American and U.K. history with the assistance of virtual reality headsets and AI-enabled glasses.

Queen Elizabeth II
Three months before the then-Princess Elizabeth ascended to the throne as queen, she and husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, made their first visit to the United States in October 1951.
With the White House undergoing major renovations, the royal couple was hosted by President Harry S. Truman and his family at the president's official guest residence Blair House.
"I know it is never possible to understand a country as great as this by visiting only its capital," Elizabeth, then 25, told Truman as he greeted the couple at the airport, per the Harry S. Truman Library, "even such a splendid one as Washington."
"But so much of the history of the United States has been enacted here," she continued, "so many memorials of your national achievement stand here, that I hope before I leave to see a little deeper into the sources of your great strength.”
Elizabeth had visited the U.S. eight times during her 70-year reign, with her last venture being in May 2007 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the first permanent English settlement in the U.S., Jamestown, Va. She and Philip stayed at the White House with President George W. Bush and First Lady Lara Bush.
