Cerbos named startup of the year in access control
Alex Olivier · 2025-04-25 · via Cerbos - All Posts

We’re excited to share some big news: Cerbos has been named Startup of the Year 2024 in Access Control by HackerNoon. This recognition comes after a competitive vote involving 32 companies in our category and nearly 700 community votes. Thank you to everyone who supported us!

Why this matters

This isn’t just a win for Cerbos—it’s a signal that the tech community is paying serious attention to the problem of authorization.

Access control has long been an underappreciated layer in modern software architecture. It’s complex, nuanced, and often left until too late in the build cycle. We started Cerbos to change that—making it easier for teams to externalize, test, and scale their authorization logic in a way that aligns with how modern systems are actually built.

This award validates that mission.

Thank you

We wouldn’t be here without the support of our community. Whether you voted, contributed to the open-source project, deployed Cerbos in production, or just explored what we’re doing—thank you.

This win is a shared one.

Onward 🚀
