Angelina Jolie may have experimented with fashion and beauty in her youth—but these days, she’s drawn to the classics. Last night, at the New York City premiere of her next film, though, the Couture star decided to deviate from the norm (at least, partially).
For the evening, Jolie wore a draped black strapless gown from Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann (see, classic!) paired with a voluminous Old Hollywood blowout and aviator shades. But it was the part of her makeup look that we could see that felt out of the norm—the star chose to go all-in on 2026’s biggest beauty trend, the blurred lip.
Popularized by makeup artist Nina Park (and seen on stars like Emma Stone, Zoe Kravitz, and Amal Clooney), the blurred lip is exactly what it sounds like. To get the look, start by lining the lips with a shade a touch darker than the lipstick you plan to wear, gently smudging the product out with either an eyeshadow brush or your fingers across the vermillion border (aka, the place where your lip skin meets the face) to give a feathered appearance. Next, apply a lipstick or lip stain with a matte finish—ideally patted on with your fingers—to finish it off. It’s less about perfection, more about a wash of color and a soft-focus approach to makeup.
Almost a year ago, Jolie joined Tom Ford Beauty as the face of their Runway Lip Color line. And while last night’s lip combo may not be as bold as the true-blue red she wore in the campaign, it’s just as thrilling.
