I Tested Medicube’s Booster Pro X2 in Seoul—Is the Upgrade Worth It?
Kiana Murden · 2026-06-15 · via Vogue

In unexpected beauty editor fashion, I traveled 13 hours to Seoul, and did not get a single beauty treatment. No Rejuran salmon sperm skin booster, no Ultherapy firming, no brightening laser. But when I looked in the mirror in my hotel bathroom, I was more radiant than ever—my complexion looked brighter, my pores appeared less visible, and despite my jet lag, I looked more awake. Since coming back to New York, I’ve been chasing that glass skin-high. It wasn’t the Korean air that breathed life into my skin; it was the new Medicube device I previewed while I was there. Let me introduce you to the new Booster Pro X2, available to shop today.

This new device is an upgraded version of the Age-R Booster Pro you’re likely familiar with. I remember spotting it in Hailey Bieber’s TikTok GRWM in 2023 (she’s always ahead of the game, isn’t she?), giving it a try, and reporting on whether it gave me her glazed donut complexion. For those with no time to read my initial review (since updated with Vogue’s Concetta Ciarlo’s thoughts, too), the TLDR is that it actually works.

Powered by electroporation to help your serums and creams dive deeper into the skin, this technology is shockingly effective, increasing ingredient absorption to boost skin’s luminosity. It’s no wonder, then, that the device has been adopted not only by Bieber, but also by other celebrities, creators, and beauty experts alike as an at-home solution for in-clinic results. And yes, it’s as popular in Korea, too. Per Joe Cho, Medicube’s media relations team lead, as of January 2026, over 6 million Medicube beauty devices have been sold worldwide, with Korea as one of its strongest markets. Naturally, the device’s passionate following and user feedback informed this new iteration.

Medicube Booster Pro X2

Vogue’s Kiana Murden tests the Medicube Booster Pro X2

Why We Love It: The next-generation Booster Pro is designed for increased efficacy and versatility. Twice as powerful as the original and with a larger surface head, this even offers three additional treatment modes for lifting, firming, brightening, and boosting skin-care absorption. “We recognized that consumers wanted a way to proactively support their skin at home and elevate the effectiveness of their skin-care routines,” Cho explained. “With the Booster Pro X2, we built upon that same idea by making the experience even more effective, enhancing performance to help consumers better maintain healthy looking skin and stay ahead of potential concerns over time.”

  • Type: Electrical stimulation, microcurrent facial treatment device
  • Modes: Seven total: Booster mode (electroporation for enhanced product absorption), MC mode (microcurrent for fine lines), Derma Shot mode (electrical muscle stimulation for toning), Air Shot mode (electric needles for pore refining), Dual mode (combines two modes), Mask mode (for use with sheet masks), AI mode (AI-guided recommendations paired to the AGE-R app
  • Intensity Levels: 5 for each mode
  • What It’s Good For: Enhanced radiance, elasticity, pore care, and facial contouring
  • Specs:
  • Best For: Hydration, plumping, firming, brightening, skincare absorption

What’s the difference between the Booster Pro and the Booster Pro X2?

To start, the Booster Pro X2 is twice as powerful as its predecessor. “Compared to the original Booster Pro, the Booster Pro X2 has two times the output power, two times the electrode count, and two times the LED coverage,” Cho explains. It’s also worth noting that the Booster Pro X2 offers a 1.3x larger head area for faster, more efficient treatments. “What that means in practical terms is that users may notice a stronger and more even treatment experience across the skin, while also helping skin-care products absorb more effectively. Because the treatment area and coverage have expanded, consumers can also treat more areas of the face more efficiently.”

Take Booster mode, for example. “On the original Booster Pro, Booster Mode helped increase skincare absorption by around 763%, while on the Booster Pro X2, it helps increase absorption by approximately 1,332%,” he says for enhanced results. In the new device, you’ll notice three completely new modes in addition to the existing four; thus improving not only device efficacy, but also versatility.

The team was inspired to create a Mask mode after noticing creators using the device with sheet masks to help enhance absorption and maximize hydration and glow benefits for the skin. There’s also now a Dual mode—by combining two treatment modes into one session, you can customize your treatment based on your specific skin concerns. For further personalization, you can take advantage of AI-guided recommendations based on your skin-care habits and device usage patterns when paired with the AGE-R app in AI mode.

How to Use the Medicube Booster Pro X2

Generally, using the Medicube Booster Pro X2 is as simple as gliding the device across your face, but best practices vary slightly depending on your mode of choice. Air shot mode—the mode that uses ‘electric needles’ to gently exfoliate—is the only option meant to be applied on clean, dry skin. Otherwise, for the other modes, as board-certified dermatologist Dendy Engelman, MD previously explained, “After cleansing the face, you can apply your favorite skin-care product all over the surface of the skin, select your method of choice, and use the device until your [product] is completely absorbed.”

Pair your Mask mode session with a sheet mask (like its PDRN Pink Peptide Mask or Medik8’s bio-cellulose mask), Booster mode with a radiance-boosting serum (like its EGF NAD Firming Serum or SkinCeuticals P-Tiox), or MC mode with a smoothing treatment (like its PDRN Eye Cream or RoC’s Derm Correxion Fill + Treat Serum). The brand advises against device usage with formulas containing high percentages of retinol or spicules to avoid irritation.

My Experience With the Medicube Booster Pro X2

While I admit that my skin is in pretty great shape already (in terms of skin clarity and bounce), I’m still impressed with the Booster Pro X2. Take my glow in the video above as proof. There is no other device on the market that gives me as significant immediate results as this—I always notice a difference when I’ve used it. For days when I’ll be on camera or in front of a crowd, this is a non-negotiable step for me. Seamlessly paired with my existing regimen of regenerative skin-care products, this only amplifies my well-curated, dermatologist-approved regimen.
