The Cannes Film Festival has wrapped up for another year. If anyone had any fears or trepidation about Bella Hadid, anointed Queen of Cannes, not delivering on the killer wardrobe her appearance on the Croisette has long promised (the gilded Schiaparelli lungs! The keffiyeh patchwork dress!), those worries were assuaged. In fact, this season on the French Riviera might have been her best.
Now, having ticked off the red carpet circuit, Hadid is free to enjoy the South of France—while still not compromising on style. The model was spotted out and about in Saint-Tropez with her brother (and recent step and repeat date), Anwar Hadid, both donned in their best summer goth. Bella opted for a near-sheer, black v-neck tank maxi dress from Massimo Dutti, with black thong sandals and thickets of gold jewelry: a Chelsea Girl purple-stoned ring, a Chanel Gripoix cross pendant necklace, and Shay Pave diamond pinky ring, as well as layers of thin gold chain necklaces (including a blooming floral choker by Azza Fahmy Jewelry), an ear cuff, Pandora Jewelry and Brilliant Earth gold bangles, and oval sunglasses. On her arm, she toted a Massimo Dutti woven croissant bag. Her hair was slicked back in a side-parted bun.
She was linked arm-in-arm with Anwar, who mirrored her vibe in a black scoopneck vest, extra-long cargo shorts (a trend already spotted by Vogue), a distressed gray cap, and black sneakers.

It marks a smooth and sleek transition away from the high-octane looks Bella and stylist Mimi Cuttrell trotted out for Cannes, an event the model had been attending for some 10 years now. This season, she relied on killer archival pulls: from an icy blue Marc Jacobs spring 2003 zip-up dress to sparkling Elie Saab. There were also some spectacular custom and runway moments too, like a no-nudity rule-defying Schiaparelli gown and some princessy Prada.

South of France girl summer, for Bella Hadid at least, is an aesthetic that offers lots of wiggle room. Sunning herself on yachts, she’s reached for a brilliant orange and black swirled Pucci one-piece from the house’s spring summer L’Alba collection and a Prada spring 2001 skirt turned tube dress originally worn by Gisele Bünchen on the runway.
The Queen of Cannes has certainly employed a la vacanza wardrobe to rival that of reigning vacation fashion queen Dua Lipa.
