Where Are Vogue Staffers Going On Summer Vacation?
Photo: Getty Images
There’s a quirk in the calendar this year: Memorial Day fell earlier than usual, and Labor Day is a bit later. That means that technically, summer 2026 is longer than most.
With all that extra time to soak up the sun, many of us here at Vogue have planned summer trips to take full advantage. It might still be May, but we are getting ready to set our out-of-office replies, packing our vacation essentials, and looking forward to traveling near and far. If you’re looking for some travel inspiration, or summer vacation destinations to add to your wishlist, look no further.
Whether we’re hitting the beach in New York or Massachusetts, going sightseeing in Portugal, or popping over to some under-the-radar Greek island gems, here’s a look at the summer trips Vogue staffers have booked this year.
Amorgos and Astypalaia, Greece

I’m going back to Greece around the August holiday—but while I’ll be spending time at home and some familiar favorites (including my best friend’s house in Skiathos), I try to visit a new island each summer. This year, that’s Amorgos, one of the easternmost Cycladic islands. Known for its secluded beaches carved into a rocky, rugged terrain, a labyrinthine chora perched high above the Aegean, and, as every local guide excitedly points out, a starring role in the 1988 film Le Grand Bleu, it offers a quieter pace compared to its more-trafficked neighbors. Since it’s on the same ferry path, I’m also going to be returning to Astypalaia. I first visited the butterfly-shaped island a couple of summers ago, and it remains one of my favorite places in the world. It’s home to another beautiful chora, wild beaches, and some of the best meatballs I’ve ever had (at Apanemia, a teeny taverna where your dinner companion is an army of stray cats). —Elly Leavitt, lifestyle shopping editor
Isle of Palms, South Carolina

I am going to Isle of Palms near Charleston at the end of June with my husband's whole family. They live in Virginia so we try to do a southern beach vacation once a summer, usually around my mother-in-law's birthday. I can’t wait to go to the beach with my kids and eat at some of Charleston's fabulous restaurants like Chubby Fish and Vern's. Also, I won't consider it a success unless I try Life Raft Treats trompe l’oeil fried chicken ice cream! —Chloe Malle, head of editorial content
Côte d’Azur, France

All I’ve wanted from a vacation is to lie on a beach, so when I received my friends’ save-the-date for a wedding in Saint-Jeannet, I knew a dip in the Mediterranean was in my future. Before I head to the nearby hillside town of Vence, I’m planning to spend a few days in Côte d’Azur, where the Renoir, Chagall, and Matisse museums are all within reach. Plus—most importantly—unfettered access to the sea! —Hannah Jackson, fashion writer
Harbor Springs, Michigan

I’ve been fortunate to spend a lot of time outside the country, but admittedly, I can’t say the same for within the US. So this year, in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, my family has decided to take a trip to Harbor Springs, Michigan! Known for its storybook harbor towns, unrivaled outdoor adventure, and relaxed luxury year-round, we’ll be staying at the Otis and plan to check out the lavender as it blooms at Lavender Hill Farm and a few local vineyards along the way. Bonus: hiking trails that really show off everything Mother Nature has to offer. —Abby Sjoberg, global director, audience
Lisbon and Madeira, Portugal

After what feels like several summers of hearing friends rave about their trips to Portugal, I decided to take the plunge this year. My friend Tania and I are going to first explore Lisbon, which feels like a non-negotiable. I look forward to staying at the Macam Hotel there, which is set in an 18th‑century palace (and doubles as a contemporary art museum). I also plan to eat my weight in bacalhau (salted cod) and pastel de nata (a must-try Portuguese pastry). and check out some traditional Fado music. From there, we will then hop over to the island of Madeira for some coastal living. I have visions of myself floating in The Reserve’s infinity pool, staring out into the sweeping ocean. There’s also a bustling vineyard scene on the island, and I definitely plan to have a taste! —Christian Allaire, senior fashion and style writer
Gloucester, Massachusetts

My college besties and I have made something of a tradition out of going away together for a week in summer; last year was Rehoboth Beach, but this year, we’re spending my 33rd birthday in Gloucester, a coastal city on Cape Ann, Massachusetts, where my aunt and uncle are kindly letting us stay in their recently remodeled rental home. I’m excited to fill up on seafood at Blue Collar Lobster, walk to Holy Cow Ice Cream for sunset cones, dip my friend Eliza’s baby’s feet in the ocean at Plum Cove Beach, and browse the Cape Ann Museum when we eventually require a dash of culture (probably on our last day). —Emma Specter, culture writer
Mallorca and Puglia

As Vogue’s parties editor, it’s not unusual for me to boomerang myself to Europe purely to cover an event, so I’m now a big believer in the jam-packed two-to-three-day Euro trip. I’m just back from Cala Di Volpe in Costa Smeralda, Sardinia (Delta launched a direct route to Olbia last weekend), and I’m now consumed with thoughts of the new Mandarin Oriental in Mallorca as I’m being called to the island to visit my favorite designer Matthew Williamson’s concept store. In August, my parents gave me the nod to join their Italian sojourn—I’m going to crash their Puglia plans before saying peace out to make my way to either the breathtaking Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como or visit Palazzo Pucci in Florence, which is a new addition to my bucket list. —Freya Drohan, parties editor
Finger Lakes, New York

When summer rolls around, people love to joke that they “need to date someone with a boat.” And I’ve somehow (luckily) stumbled into a relationship with someone who does, in fact, have a boat! Along with that comes a house on Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes. I spent one (wine-filled) weekend up there in September, and it felt like a preview of what summer weekends there will look like. I’m looking forward to some much-needed R&R, white wine, and boat rides(!) in the next few months. —Kylee McGuigan, associate production manager
San Marcos, California

I can’t remember a trip without my laptop taken in this decade, although I’m boldly imagining the possibility of flying to San Diego next month and making my way to Golden Door Spa (one of Vogue’s 100 best spas on the planet!) The last time I was there, it was girls-only, and my husband Cody told me I returned “changed,” so I’m looking forward to what a co-ed week will bring. Imagine an adult sleepaway camp with options all day where I can go from hiking to archery to ink painting to water aerobics to a Biologique Recherche facial and still have time to walk a labyrinth or pick an avocado straight from the tree. Also, it’s encouraged to respect other guests’ peace by keeping electronic devices in your room, so I plan to try life (mostly) offline, in the style of summer vacation! —Arden Fanning-Andrews, beauty editor-at-large
St Barths

While high season in Saint Barthélemy stretches from late November through April, I’m looking forward to experiencing the island in June, when the energy feels a touch quieter and decidedly less scene-y (a sentiment that feels increasingly aligned with approaching my 30s). Having recently written a beginner’s guide to St. Barths and rounded up many of my perennial favorites, I decided this trip was the perfect excuse to check into somewhere new: Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth. Between afternoons at the pool, treatments at Sense, A Rosewood Spa, and the hotel’s new artist residency with Cuban-American contemporary artist Daniel Dugan—which transforms the property into a living canvas—I already know this will be a slower, more restorative side of St. Barths. —Molly Barstein, associate manager, audience team
Cartagena, Colombia

Many of my friends love large group trips, and this year we’re kicking off the summer with a 30th birthday jaunt, coincidentally for our group’s best trip planner. Seventeen of us will make the trip, and the birthday girl has planned a full itinerary of beach clubs, boat rides, and street food tours around Cartagena’s walled city, where we’re staying in an Airbnb with a pool. It’s my first time in South America (though Cartagena, on the coast, is also deeply influenced by Caribbean culture), and I’m excited to walk around the old town and feast on fresh fish, plantains, and queso, and as many different kinds of fruit as humanly possible. Maybe I’ll snag a copy of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Of Love and Other Demons, set in the city, for summer reading. —P. Claire Dodson, associate director of culture, Teen Vogue
Montauk, New York

A friend of mine who organized a Manasquan, NJ share house in 2022 reached out to me asking if I wanted to do something similar this summer—but in Montauk. Of course, I said yes! It felt like the necessary pipeline of share houses from my early to late 20s. I’ve been to Montauk once before, and loved the chill beach vibes mixed with the array of social outings. I’m looking forward to spending a long weekend with some new friends, good food, and rosé. —Kylee McGuigan, associate production manager
Madrid, Toledo, Ibiza

I’ve spent a decent amount of time in Spain, but have still never been to Madrid. When I received an invite to a friend’s wedding in Toledo—30 minutes out of the Spanish capital—it felt like the stars aligned. We’re planning to spend a night at Hotel Montera in Madrid’s city center, before heading to Toledo for the wedding weekend. After the festivities, we’re off to the Balearic Islands—Ibiza is just an hour’s flight away. We’ll start with a chill couple of nights in Formentera, bopping from the beach to the hotel Dunas de Formentera pool. From there, the plan is to head to Ibiza, where we’ll spend a couple of nights relaxing at Boutique Los Enamorados on the north of the island, before meeting up with some friends (we’ll rent a house, or get booking some rooms at The Standard) for a last weekend of long lunches at El Silencio and Es Xaru…and maybe a night out at Pikes. —Madeleine Schulz, US Editor, Vogue Business
Paris, France and Minnesota

Whenever I’m off to Paris, I typically end up going with coworkers (who are also friends, of course). The last time I went on a girls’ trip to the city was with my best friend and former coworker Maya, and this time around, I’ll be making the trip with contributor Liana Satenstein and my coworker Christian Allaire. We’re hoping to do lots of vintage shopping as well as take lots of photos. The last time I was there, I was in the 20th arrondissement, and this time we are staying right by the Canal Saint-Martin, which is so exciting as it’s one of my favorite places to drink wine and have a sunset picnic!
I’m supposedly going on another best friends trip with my former and current coworkers and best friends to Minnesota. Every year we go on a trip somewhere, and this will be our sixth vacation together as a group. Usually, we’re off to the beach, but we always said that this year would be the year we stay local and venture out West. We’re currently planning a road trip to Minnesota from New York to head to the Minnesota State Fair to get some Sweet Martha’s Cookies and visit my friend Jenny Olson, who happens to be a part of the family business. We’re still in the fine-tuning stages—and a 20 road trip honestly sounds exhausting, since I’ll probably be the one driving for the majority of it—but I’m still hoping we actually stick to the road tripping route! —Irene Kim, production and editorial associate, Vogue Runway
Greece

This summer, I’m excited to check another country off my list with a week-long trip to Greece. Inspired by a travel-heavy TikTok feed, glowing recommendations from friends, and my love of all things Euro summer, I’ll be starting my trip with a quick stop in London before heading to Athens. Since it’s my first time in the city, I can’t wait to see the Acropolis and explore neighborhoods like Plaka while making my way through a growing list of restaurants and cafés, including Aerides Plaka, Wine is Fine, and Stani. For accommodations, I’ve also heard amazing things about both Mona Athens and the Apollo Palm, so I’m looking forward to settling into the city in style. For the second half of the trip, I’ll be island hopping to Naxos and Paros, where I’m most excited to explore the towns and fully unplug by the beach. In Paros, I’m hoping to dine at any and all waterfront restaurants and cafés—especially Barbarossa—and I plan on checking out the boutique hotel, Vione Paros, during my stay. —Taylor Lashley, senior manager, social media
Saint Paul de Vence, France
Photo: Getty Images
An old friend of my mom’s has a house in Saint Paul de Vence that he rents out. My mom and I stayed there last summer, and this year I’ll be heading there for a week with my family, and a few friends who live in Europe will be stopping by as well. The town is a little commune in the South of France, about half an hour away from Nice. It’s a popular day-trip destination in the area, because it’s one of the oldest medieval towns in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region (I myself had been a few times before first staying at the house). James Baldwin famously resided there for 17 years until he passed away in 1987, and the villa is steps away from La Colombe D’Or, a historic hotel that has housed guests such as Jean-Paul Sartre, Marc Chagall, and Pablo Picasso. The lobby bar is my favorite spot in town for aperitivo, where you can enjoy a drink next to an original Matisse sketch. While I plan to spend most of my days lazing by the pool, reading, and picking vegetables from the garden in preparation for dinner, Saint Paul is great because of its proximity to other cities on the French Riviera, like Cagnes-sur-Mer, Antibes, and Èze, which I will definitely be making a little trip to. —Fred Sahai, associate producer, shopping
Kenya and Zanzibar
Photo: Getty Images
For the second half of summer, I’ll be checking off what feels like the definition of a bucket-list trip: a family safari through Kenya. In July, we’ll split our time between Mara Toto Tree Camp and ol Donyo Lodge, two properties from Great Plains Conservation that have long been at the top of my travel wish list. I’m looking forward to early morning game drives, evenings around the fire, and completely disconnecting in the middle of the bush. The second half of the trip shifts from safari to beach: a few blissfully slow days in Zanzibar spent swimming in the Indian Ocean and doing very little besides lying in the sand at Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa. After the early mornings and adrenaline of safari, it feels like the perfect balance—a little adventure followed by total relaxation. —Molly Barstein, associate manager, audience team
Formentera, Ibiza, Galicia
Photo: Getty Images
My partner is from Galicia, so we always end up spending some of our summer there. Before heading over to Spain’s north-west corner with its local beaches and absolutely delicious seafood (O Loxe Mareiro is a must!) in the Rías Baixas, we’re going to spend a week basking in the warm Mediterranean waters of Formentera and Ibiza. We will start at Jardins de Palerm before heading to Teranka Formentera for a few nights, then finish our stay on Ibiza at Petunia. Long beachside lunches at Xiringuito Xuclar and Es Torrent are calling my name! —Maddy Fass, fashion market director, shopping
Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
Photo: Getty Images
Nestled along the Nicoya coast of Costa Rica lies Santa Teresa, a laid-back surf town where shoes are heavily discouraged. When I heard about Hotel Fermata’s grand opening at the end of 2025, I knew I had to be one of the first to experience the bohemian bliss. The husband-wife duo behind Hotel Fermata are no strangers to curating properties with stylish Costa Rican charm (this is their second boutique property in the country). My boyfriend, a surfing fanatic, is especially excited as the property sits on the famous La Lora surf break. I plan to spectate from the comfort of a beach chair while holding a punctured coconut. Ah, Pura Vida. —Lea Donenberg, associate producer, video
