Tonight, designers and celebrities will take to The Metropolitan Museum of Art dressed in their best interpretations of “Fashion Is Art,” to celebrate the 2026 Met Gala. This year’s event is particularly special; the evening will inaugurate the new 12,000-square-foot Condé M. Nast Galleries, which will serve as the Costume Institute’s permanent home going forward. Ahead of tonight, The Met Store has unveiled an exclusive range of special-edition items that commemorate this year’s exhibition: “Costume Art.”

This year’s theme firmly places fashion on the same pedestal as fine art, with an emphasis on the dressed body across 5,000 years of artistic depictions, from which The Met Store’s participating designers took inspiration. Bespoke items, designed specially for the occasion, range from Tory Burch’s silk scarf to limited-edition Thom Browne nesting dolls, to a T-shirt and tote bag designed by Michael Kors, as well as John Derian decoupage trays and paperweights. These items are now available online at store.metmuseum.org.

Also included in the offering is a series of hand-fired vases designed by artist Elif Uras, whose 2015 work Pregnant Haliç II is included in the exhibition, as well as fragrances designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. Additional items such as these will be available in-store beginning May 5.

Visitors to the museum will also be able to purchase a comprehensive exhibition catalogue written by Andrew Bolton, Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
