30+ Picture-Perfect Dresses We'd Wear to a Garden Wedding
Sarah Zendejas · 2026-06-25 · via Vogue

An invitation to a garden wedding immediately evokes thoughts of lush grounds filled with fragrant flowers—ideally, while the golden-hour light casts everything in a warm glow. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a historical sculpture garden or simply the bride’s backyard; this is the kind of setting that feels instantly romantic. It also invites a certain dress code. Refined, but not boring; elegant, but easy; all paired with savvy footwear to avoid sinking into the soil. If you have one on the docket for this summer, you’ll need a garden wedding guest dress that can match the atmosphere.

For an easy choice, we can think of few occasions that are more fitting for florals than a garden wedding. This season, skip the obvious in favor of modern interpretations: for example, Alaïa’s black jersey gown with contrasting green Sakura florals, Staud’s cubist-inspired halter maxi, or Givenchy’s A-line midi with its bold palette of blue, red, and fuchsia pink blooms.

The floral-averse will find plenty to love in our edit, too. Alemais’s silk dress with a handkerchief hem and printed artwork was created in collaboration with the artist Karlee Mackie; elsewhere, Etro’s multicolored paisley print embraces la dolce vita if your garden wedding is also a destination wedding. If you love polka dots, Carolina Herrera’s navy hourglass-shaped halter is an elegant choice. And if you can’t be swayed to pattern at all—we found a bouquet of dresses in marigold yellow, rosy blush, and poppy red, courtesy of Proenza Schouler, Massimo Dutti, and Merlette.

Ahead, shop our edit of the best garden wedding guests dresses to wear this season.
