Can a silly little purse become an everyday staple? It’s been one of mine for years. I was reminded of its versatility after acquiring Merlette’s beaded Lyra pouch earlier in the year; it’s quickly become one of those pieces I reach for without thinking. On a recent night out to the opera, I wore it with a dress and wrap coat, coiled around my wrist. Contemporary and emerging brands have also embraced the drawstring purse, adorning theirs with tassels, beads, and sequins. Ayllón’s leather style features an ivory glass pendant at the center, while Sophie Buhai’s bright red silk style comes with a silver-tone teardrop at its base. Cordera’s crochet and beaded style is an ode to craftsmanship, created in collaboration with a women’s collective in Central America.

Clutched by the closure or wrapped elegantly around the wrist, these petite drawstring pouches are the ultimate grab-and-go accessory. Take this as a cue to add one to your own wardrobe.
