How Stars Are Reinventing Coachella's Boho Style
Christian Allaire · 2026-04-17 · via Vogue

Weekend one of Coachella was all about taking in your favorite artist’s performances (Justin Bieber! Sabrina Carpenter! Karol G!)—but a big part of the fun of attending the annual music festival was also taking in the one-of-a-kind street style scene.

Boho fashion, in particular, was alive and well at Coachella this year. The star-studded crowd, including Lisa, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Teyana Taylor, proved that boho-chic is still not going anywhere anytime soon.

The festival has long been associated with a groovy, free-spirited fashion sensibility. In the 2010s, Coachella’s boho style ran rampant over our Tumblr inspiration right alongside snapshots of indie-sleaze. You could often catch showgoers in suede vests, leather shorts, or skinny jeans. Perhaps there was even a romantic, ruffled blouse or fringed bag thrown in for good measure. Flash-forward to the present tense, and now this year’s A-list festival goes are all keeping the spirit alive, but with a much more modern feel. (Meaning, there are no flower crowns in sight.)

Blackpink member Lisa, for one, hit the Coachella grounds in a casual-cool look that channeled boho in a more discreet way. She paired a white macramé mini dress with an oversized leather jacket, and paired it with her best cowboy boots. It was not full boho—rather, a hint of boho, with an edgier slant. Ditto for Anya Taylor-Joy in her laced-up little camisole top, paired with skin-tight leather trousers and a bright red Gucci bag. It felt boho-adjacent, while feeling just a dash more sleek and streamlined, too.

These fresh styling approaches epitomize the style’s 2020’s comeback: After a few years of stealth wealth and quiet luxury dominating the fashion space, it only makes sense that Coachella’s boho style is slowly getting more refined. (A few weeks back, Vogue editors predicted that festival fashion will look different this year—turns out, we were right.) It also helps that labels like Chloé, Staud, and Zimmermann are making boho pieces that feel updated and modern.

Other stars, meanwhile—like Teyana Taylor and Kehlani—did venture a little more maximalist with their boho-chic outfits. At the Revolve Festival, Taylor donned a silver netted dress with silver fringing, and paired it with an avant-garde face piece by Schiaparelli—a much more futuristic take on the classic fringed boho maxi dress. Singer Chappell Roan also went full-on with her renaissance-inspired look, complete with a puff-shouldered dress and embroidered vest.

So, it’s not to say Coachella style has totally shifted, but there was a level of refinement that was apparent at this year’s Coachella. It less about flexing looks for the ’gram and looking the part, and more about embracing personal style with distinct and unexpected pieces. (I mean, could you have predicted sculptural Schiaparelli shades on Taylor?)

What will weekend two hold for us in terms of street style? It officially kicks off tomorrow, so be sure to check back here for even more of the best boho outfits and star sightings. We expect more plaids, fringe, and ripped jeans. VIP wristband not included.
