Met Monday Never Ends! Inside Gabriela Hearst and Grace Gummer's After-Party at Boom
Jordan Rossm · 2026-05-05 · via Vogue

On the First Monday of May, there’s plenty for attendees to look forward to: the opening of the Costume Institute’s exhibit, the closely-watched celebrity exits from The Mark and The Carlyle hotels, and, of course, the red carpet moments on the museum’s iconic staircase. Then, there’s the after-parties—including Boom at the Standard High Line’s traditional knees-up.

The likes of A$AP Rocky, Misty Copeland, Janelle Monáe, Adam Lambert, Wes Gordon, Coco Rocha, and Ella Emhoff all flocked to join this year’s hosts Gabriela Hearst, Grace Gummer, and Yola Mezcal. Stepping off the elevator at the top floor, guests were met with camera flashes before making their way down a dimly-lit hall and through a heavy oak door. On the other side: the glittering Art Deco interior that has made Boom one of New York's most storied spaces, paired with unrivaled views of downtown Manhattan. Mood lighting, a sunken bar serving mezcalitas and mezcal martinis, and a buzzing playlist set the scene for a night to remember.

DJs Samantha Ronson and Questlove mixed Pink Floyd's Money with Lil Jon's Get Low, and ABBA’s Dancing Queen with Justin Timberlake’s Rock Your Body, creating an arc that brought Uruguayan designer Hearst straight to the dance floor—Champagne flute raised, arms in the air. “Anything with bass makes me want to dance,” she told Vogue, laughing. And dance she did, alongside attendees including Tommy Dorfman, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Tina Leung, Georgia Fowler, Hilary Taymour, and EJ Johnson; she didn't leave the floor all evening.

By 1 a.m., the evening kicked into high gear as guests made their arrivals in sexier, shorter alternatives to what they wore on the carpet, remnants of the day’s glam tweaked for the after-dark hours. Gummer swapped the metallic gold Gabriela Hearst gown she wore on the carpet—one that Hearst admitted was “so good”—into a brown, hooded suede number by the designer. As the mezcalitas did their work and the room hit its peak, Kelela made a surprise appearance atop the sunken bar for a performance of LMK and Happy Ending that had the crowd singing along (Monáe, who had claimed their spot at the front, sang the loudest).

The performance kept the energy buzzing into the early hours of the morning, until guests finished made their way back towards the cobblestone streets of the Meatpacking District—and perhaps on to the next stop of the multi-party bonanza unfolding across the city.
