Giambattista Valli Acquires Full Ownership of His Brand F...

Italian fashion designer Giambattista Valli has acquired full ownership of his brand from Artémis, the holding company of the Pinault family that controls Kering.

“We have been delighted to support Mr. Giambattista Valli and to stand behind such a singular and demanding creative vision. After years of an inspiring collaboration, a new chapter is now opening in this entrepreneurial adventure, and I wish Giambattista every success in the next stage of his journey,” François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Groupe Artémis, said in a statement. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The designer added that he would like to thank “Artémis for its support and commitment to the maison throughout all these years. This agreement now enables me to fully regain control of my brand and to pursue its development with enthusiasm and energy.”

In the same statement, the brand acknowledged that working with Artémis has helped to develop the brand’s infrastructure, scale its collections, and expand its international presence. Giambattista Valli has two standalone stores in Paris and Milan.

In January, Giambattista Valli and Artémis announced that the brand would call off its couture show. “The house is currently undertaking an in-depth reflection on the organization of its activities in order to ensure their long-term sustainability. Fully focused on this process, it has decided not to hold its show scheduled for the upcoming Paris Fashion Week on January 26, 2026,” Artémis said at the time.

Artémis made its first investment in the independent fashion house in 2017, before taking a majority stake in 2021. Artémis’s stake in Giambattista Valli rose to over 90%. (Artémis also has full control of Courrèges.) Artémis doesn’t disclose sales of individual brands.

Rome-born Valli started his career in Italy before moving to Paris to acquire his first experience in haute couture with Emanuel Ungaro. He presented his first collection under his own label in Paris in March 2005. Valli began by designing ready-to-wear collections before moving into haute couture in 2011 and becoming an official and permanent member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. He has continued to show during both ready-to-wear and couture.

He opted for a presentation at his headquarters instead of a show during the FW25 couture season in July 2025, when he also received the insignia of Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati.
