Chris Getz has just signed the biggest free agent for Chicago since Andrew Benintendi, with Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami.

The Chicago White Sox, amid a 5-10 start, have called up one of their top prospects.

Chicago has called up top pitching prospect (No. 2 in Chicago’s system) Noah Schultz, according to Elijah Evans of Just Baseball media and Future Sox.

Schultz will reportedly be making his debut on Tuesday, April 14, likely starting that day.

The White Sox are calling up top pitching prospect Noah Schultz to make his MLB debut on Tuesday, sources tell @JustBB_Media and @FutureSox.

The 22-year-old lefty has pitched to a 1.29 ERA with 19 K through 14 innings this season in Triple-A.

While the White Sox have been pitching quite well over the last few games, allowing four total runs over their last three games, this was a necessary move to make to see what they have in Schultz.

The uber-talented left-hander will be entering his age-23 season and has been labeled as a future ace.

More On Schultz and the Chicago White Sox

The White Sox selected Schultz in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of high school. Scouts have drawn comparisons from Schultz to legendary lefty Randy Johnson.

This is due to his fastball that can reach the upper-90’s and a wipeout slider that can fool any batter.

His large stature (6-foot-10, 240 pounds) and unbelievable stuff made him a top prospect in the league.

He is currently the second-ranked prospect in Chicago’s system and No. 46 overall.

He was named a top 50 prospect before the 2024 season, and quickly went into the top 20 by 2025. However, a knee injury would slow Schultz down in the 2025 season. His control and stuff would decline because of this injury, posting a 4.68 ERA in 17 games (73 innings).

This was after posting a sub-2.25 ERA in 2023 and 2024.

But to start the 2026 season, Schultz has been back to his normal self and has seemingly recovered fully from his knee injury.

In three games in Triple-A (14 innings), Schultz has pitched to a 1.29 ERA, striking out 19 batters, while walking just two.

He will now get the call to the major leagues and show why he was such a highly-touted prospect.

How Will Schultz Figure Into the Rotation?

Schultz will likely slot in seamlessly into Chicago’s rotation. The corresponding move for bringing Schultz up is not yet known for either the 26-man or 40-man roster.

While the hitting has been unimpressive to say the least, the starting pitching has been good for the White Sox.

The starting rotation will likely consist of Schultz, Sean Burke, Davis Martin, Erick Fedde and Anthony Kay.

Shane Smith is currently in Triple-A as well after being sent down earlier this year. Smith figures to be back in the rotation as soon as he figures out his control. A six-man rotation could very well be in the future for the White Sox.

While Schultz has ace-potential, he will have to prove himself to be worthy of that mantle.

Tanner McDougal and Hagen Smith, top pitching prospects also in Triple-A, are likely to soon join Schultz in the majors.

Schultz will transform the starting rotation, as his stuff clearly translates to the majors, and White Sox fans will have a lot of fun watching Schultz in what has otherwise been a dismal season.
