The Chicago White Sox are off to a better-than-expected start to the 2026 season.
After losing two series to the Milwaukee Brewers and Miami Marlins, the White Sox have done what was thought to be improbable.
The White Sox have swept the defending American League champions, the Toronto Blue Jays.
Chicago was expected to be better than 2025, after losing 102 games, and much better than 2024 after losing a record 121 games.
However, sweeping a team that had been so close to knocking off the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series was completely unexpected.
After their first home series, the White Sox are now 4-5, and out of the cellar of the AL Central.

Despite Chicago’s early-season struggles that almost assuredly counted them out of winning this series, the White Sox are just one game back in the division. And they are certainly gaining attention from the world.
Yes, it’s early. However, the White Sox are showing a better product on the field than fans have seen in years.
After giving up 52 runs in their first six games, the White Sox gave up just seven runs to Toronto.
This included a dominant pitching performance by starter Davis Martin on Sunday.
In six innings, Martin shut down the Blue Jays, while striking out six and giving up just four hits to a loaded lineup.
The White Sox showed incredible defense, something that they haven’t shown in a while, as well as heads-up base running.
Infielder Tanner Murray’s incredible scoop-and-throw to first base highlighted a sound defensive performance by Chicago.

The Chicago bullpen, which had been among the worst in baseball to start 2026, locked down the game.
While the third game of the series was definitely the most dominant showing by Chicago, the other two wins showed a different team than last year.
Clutch hitting by first baseman Munetaka Murakami and shortstop Colson Montgomery, and great baserunning by the team led to victory.
It seemed that when adversity faced the White Sox, they were able to stay cool in the face of pressure.
The first game of the series showed that with a resilient extra-innings victory.
Despite everything MLB fans thought about the White Sox going into the 2026 season, Chicago has shocked the world.
Thanks to their signing of Murakami, who has been hot to start his major league career, and others, Chicago could be poised to win more games than previously thought.
