Before the Utah Jazz host the New York Knicks at the Delta Center in downtown Salt Lake City, the home team announced a roster move.
The Jazz are planning to try out the forward Andersson Garcia for a limited stretch,
Utah’s front office officially announced the acquisition on Tuesday, March 11.

When Garcia entered the NCAA, he started his run at Mississippi State in the SEC. He spent two seasons there and appeared in 44 games.
Just three of those appearances were starts for Garcia. He averaged 11.9 minutes of playing time, producing 3.8 points per game on 55% shooting from the field.
For the following three seasons, Garcia switched schools, but remained in the SEC. For most of his Texas A&M run, Garcia continued a role off the bench, averaging 23.3 minutes per game.

When he officially wrapped up his time in college, Garcia produced 5.1 points per game. He shot 51% from the field. Along with his scoring, Garcia came down with 6.6 rebounds and came up with 1.0 steals per game.

Garcia went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft. He landed in the NBA G League.
Playing for the Mexico City Capitanes, Garcia appeared in 26 games during the regular season run. He’s been averaging a double-double throughout the year. Shooting 56% from the field, Garcia produced 11.5 points per game, along with 10.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.

This season, the Jazz are recognized as one of the league’s rebuilding franchises.
The team even landed in some hot water for their tactics before the All-Star break, but that doesn’t change the facts. Will Hardy’s team has been struggling to come up with wins consistently.
The Jazz are young, and they are injured. The injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Knicks includes Jusuf Nurkic, Lauri Markkanen, John Konchar, Walker Kessler, Jaren Jackson Jr., Blake Hinson, and Keyonte George.
With a 20-45 record on the year, the Jazz are 14th in the Western Conference. They’ve won just two of their last 10 games.
The Jazz and the Knicks will tip off at 9 PM ET on Tuesday.
