The Utah Jazz are making a roster move ahead of their February 26 game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Jazz are adding the veteran center, Mo Bamba. The deal is expected to be a 10-day contract, giving Bamba a little under two weeks to showcase what he could bring to the table once again.

Where Has Mo Bamba Been?

The 27-year-old center has been playing for the Jazz’s NBA G League team, the Salt Lake City Stars.

He signed with the Jazz before training camp back in September 2025. After going through the preseason, Bamba failed to make the final roster. On October 27, the joined the Stars officially.

The Toronto Raptors gave Bamba a shot back in December 2025. He signed a one-year contract with the team, which led just two appearances this season. Bamba totaled three minutes on the court. He was waived by the Raptors in early January 2026.

During the G League regular season, Bamba has started half of the 10 games he’s played. Seeing the court for 26.6 minutes per game, the veteran center has shot 54% from the field and 35% from three, to average 16.2 points per game.

Beyond his scoring, Bamba is averaging a double-double with 11.8 rebounds per game, and blocking two shots per game.

A Chance To Bounce Back

Entering the NBA out of Texas in 2018, Bamba was a high-end pick. He was selected 6th overall by the Orlando Magic and had high expectations from the jump. However, Bamba wasn’t an instant starter.

The veteran produced 6.2 points per game while coming down with 5.0 rebounds per game as a reserve. It wasn’t until his fourth season in the NBA that Bamba became a starter for the Magic. He appeared in 71 games and posted what ended up being his career year at this point.

In 2021-2022, Bamba posted averages of 10.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.

During the 2022-2023 NBA season, Bamba played for the Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers. When he hit the free agency market in 2023, Bamba signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. After finishing his one season with the Sixers, Bamba joined the Los Angeles Clippers in free agency.

He appeared in just 28 games for the Clippers before getting traded to the Jazz. The Jazz waived Bamba, which led him to sign a 10-day deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Seeing as though the Jazz are shorthanded in the front court, they’ll give Bamba a temporary shot. They are slated to play the Pelicans on Thursday, February 26, at 9 PM ET.
