According to Will Guillory of The Athletic, Rockets coach Ime Udoka confirmed that Durant participated in about half of Monday’s practice and will be a game-time decision.

“I would say mobility probably,” Udoka said, via Guillory. “The pain tolerance is one thing, but actually moving and feeling comfortable doing all the movements is going to be the biggest thing.”

Guillory also shared a video of Durant getting shots up after practice. The 14-time All-Star was seen with tape on his right knee but appeared to be moving more fluidly compared to previous days — a promising sign, though not definitive.

Durant is dealing with a right knee contusion suffered during a practice collision last week. While initially viewed as minor, further evaluation revealed deeper discomfort affecting his movement.

Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the injury involves a deep bruise in the patellar tendon, leading to swelling, pain and limited range of motion.

“For Kevin Durant to miss a playoff game, that speaks to the severity of the injury,” Charania said on NBA Today.

That explains why Houston is taking a cautious approach despite the urgency of the postseason.

Without Durant, the Rockets struggled to generate consistent offense in their 107-98 loss.

Alperen Sengun led the team with 19 points, while Jabari Smith Jr. added 16 points and 12 rebounds. Amen Thompson chipped in 17 points, but the team shot just 37.6% from the field.

Houston remained competitive in several areas, including rebounding, but inefficient shooting ultimately proved costly.

“We won a lot of areas, but just shot poorly,” Udoka said. “There are some things we left on the table.”

If Durant is unable to go again, the Rockets are expected to rely on Josh Okogie in the starting lineup.
