Boston sports radio station WEEI has surprisingly made a notable change to its afternoon show.

Hosts Andy Hart and Nick “Fitzy” Stevens have been removed from the network’s “WEEI Afternoons” program that airs from 2-6 p.m. ET, as confirmed by Barrett Media.

The pair hosted the show alongside former Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson.

WEEI does not air Patriots games, but the pair hosted a “6 Rings” postgame show for the network.

Hart’s X bio lists him as a “Former WEEI host and Patriots.com analyst. Current career crossroads free agent!” and Johnson hosted the show by himself Wednesday, according to Barrett Media.

An official announcement about the show’s future reportedly is expected this Monday.

Hart covered the Patriots for their team website for two decades before he joined WWEI in 2019, according to a Tufts profile, and Stevens also joined WEEI that same year.

WEEI promoted Hart to the afternoon show in 2024 and Johnson joined the show one year later to provide a trio of hosts.

Hart played linebacker for Tufts in the late 1990s, and told the school’s website that transitioning from working from a team to a radio station wasn’t challenging.

“Honestly, it’s not a whole lot different for me. We were always pretty objective,” he told the tufts.edu. “We did radio shows that were every bit like what I do on WEEI now. We would discuss why they lost, what wasn’t good, who wasn’t playing well, that sort of thing. So, a lot of times I tell people I’m basically doing the same job I’ve done for two decades, just for a different employer and a different outlet.”

Stevens appeared to joke about his firing Wednesday in his Instagram Story, saying during a beer review how he “earned” this beer and “got the axe” before promoting a Juicy Axe beer.

He also reposted a video of an individual complimenting him after learning of the news.

“If you’re gonna get the axe, better make it a juicy one,” Stevens said while showing off the adult beverage.

This Boston station shakeup comes during during the fallout from Mike Vrabel being photographed with NFL insider Diana Russini, as exclusively revealed by Page Six.

Vrabel told ESPN late Wednesday night he would miss Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday to seek counseling.

“As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend,” Vrabel told ESPN. “This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counseling them.”  

Page Six then revealed Thursday new photos of the pair being “all over each other” at a Manhattan bar in 2020 while Vrabel coached the Titans and Russini worked for ESPN.
