All animals may be equal, but not all adaptations of George Orwell’s 1945 satirical novella Animal Farm are the same. And the latest adaptation—the 2026 Animal Farm movie, a family-friendly animated film from the faith-based company Angela Studios, which opens in theaters this weekend—is unique, to say the least.

Directed by Andy Serkis (aka Gollum) and written by Nicholas Stoller (aka the screenwriter of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the Neighbors movies) this version of Animal Farm offers a new spin on Orwell’s famed critique of communism. Napoleon the pig (voiced by Seth Rogen) still leads a rebellion of the animals on a farm, who are sick of being treated poorly by their human master. But in order to make the film less of a political commentary and more of a family-friend romp, there’s also a new coming-of-age story about a young piglet named Lucky (voiced by Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo) who finds himself torn between ideologies. According to critics, the movie is exactly as tonally strange as it sounds.

The Animal Farm voice cast also includes Kieran Culkin, Glenn Close, Laverne Cox, Steve Buscemi, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Andy Serkis, Kathleen Turner, and Iman Vellani. For now, Animal Farm will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in select theaters in the U.S. on Friday, May 1. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. The Animal Farm movie is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is the 2026 Animal Farm movie streaming on Netflix or Prime Video?

Animal Farm is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now. While it’s possible Animal Farm may stream on Netflix someday, it won’t be until after the theatrical run and digital release of the movie. Animal Farm is not a Netflix original—it’s a small, independent film being distributed by Angel Studios, known for making faith-based films. So far, since the studio’s launch in 2021, none of Angel Studios movies have gone on to stream on Netflix. Never say never, but it’s unlikely you’ll see Animal Farm streaming on Netflix anytime soon.

You will be able to purchase Animal Farm on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Animal Farm on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch Animal Farm movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms.

Is the Animal Farm 2026 movie streaming on Disney+?

Animal Farm is not streaming on Disney+, and will not be on Disney+ any time soon, due to the fact that the film is not a Disney movie. Not every animated movie is a Disney movie! Instead, the film will likely be released on digital platforms as well as streaming on the Angel Studios website in a few months.

When will the animated Animal Farm movie release on digital?

The Animal Farm movie digital release date has not yet been announced. However, we can make an educated guess as to when we might see Animal Farm on video-on-demand, based on the digital release of previous films from this studio, Angel Studios.

Another Angel Studios movie, David, was released was released on digital platforms a little over a month after opening in theaters. If Animal Farm follows a similar pattern, you might seethe movie on video-on-demand in about five to seven weeks, around June 2026. Around the same time or earlier, you will also likely see Animal Farm streaming on the Angel Studios website, available to Angel Guild members, with subscriptions starting at $12 a month, or $159 a year.

But this is all speculation. Other Angel Studio movies took over three months to come to digital, and others are still only available to stream on the Angel Studios website with a guild membership. So if you want to see Animal Farm right away, you should catch the movie in a theater.
