How Hint App uses symbolic systems to help users process ...
Ethan Stone · 2026-05-21 · via New York Post

Therapy and broader discussions surrounding mental and emotional health have become more socially acceptable in the past decade, and this development is ultimately for the best. Ironically, however, phenomena like “therapy-speak” are now pushing the issue of emotional literacy too far in the opposite direction, contributing to cultural fatigue as a result of hyper-rational self-help models that tend to emphasize outcomes over processes.

Though these self-help models have their uses, they can sometimes leave people feeling emotionally drained or even outright ignored, creating as many issues as they attempt to address.

To alleviate this fatigue, Hint.app, a symbology-based emotional literacy platform, devised a system for users to interact with symbolic systems like astrology in a way that provides them with personalized emotional insight reports. These reports are meant to give users an outlet for emotional complexity, helping them regain clarity in an uncertain world.

How does Hint App work?

Hint App is unique among astrology-based platforms for its emphasis on emotional literacy and astronomical precision over traditional predictions and horoscopes. By pairing artificial intelligence with astronomical data, the platform serves as a reflective tool that individuals can use to process their emotions.

In practice, Hint App integrates exact birth data, location-based astronomy, and behavioral patterns to produce its insights. Through emotional pattern recognition and AI-driven personalization, the platform puts a mirror up to users for them to examine their emotions against.

While this process may not always provide obvious answers, for Hint App, struggle is the point, as taking the time and effort to work through emotional ambiguity may offer benefits users can’t find when searching for direct, uncomplicated answers to their most personal questions.

According to user behavior data Hint App has collected, users appear to interact with the platform for this very purpose. For example, user behavior consistently spikes during emotionally transitional moments, namely breakups, first dates, post-therapy reflection, and major relationship decisions.

Similarly, internal data shows seasonal surges around Valentine’s Day, New Year’s, wedding season, and early fall, showcasing how users turn to symbolic insight during periods of emotional recalibration.

Purposefully acknowledging uncertainty

At a time when everyone is expected to have all the answers they need at all times, Hint App serves to provide users with an emotional break that allows them to interrogate their feelings, not solve them. The platform was created as a response to emotional burnout, dating uncertainty, and the fatigue that continues to accompany therapy culture.

Niche or unimportant as these problems may sound, Hint App currently maintains 1.2M+ users worldwide, many of whom reside in places like the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and the EU. To date, the platform has delivered over 1 million personalized sketches and readings, highlighting just how valuable Hint App can be, not necessarily as a lifestyle trend, but instead as a natural response to emotional ambiguity.

Today, Hint App continues to make use of astrology and astronomical data to help users regain some semblance of clarity in their everyday lives. The platform purposefully acknowledges emotional uncertainty so its users can as well, thereby giving them an outlet for questions and frustrations they may not be able to find at a time when so many modern solutions prioritize results over processes.
