Two brazen bandits suspected of stealing multiple times from a Northern California Home Depot were finally busted after cops discovered a sneaky trick they used to hide the stolen merchandise in their pants.

Vacaville Police Department said two alleged shoplifters were caught on camera in April by surveillance video from the store that showed them taking items off the shelf and stuffing them down the front and back of their pants.

Police said that when the call from dispatch came in the person said the two were suspected of stealing from the store before.

The report said that the last time, “one of the men had reportedly motioned as though he had a weapon in his waistband when confronted by store employees.”

Cops said when they arrived the suspects were leaving the store.

During one of the arrests, video from the department showed one of the officers found that the suspect had wrapped tape around his leg to keep the stolen merchandise from falling out of his pants. 

“Okay, gotcha. You use the tape to stop it from falling down,” the officer said. 

Both men ended up being taken into custody and safely detained, per PD.

During an investigation, officers said that they found nearly $750 worth of concealed merchandise, along with drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine. Magnets commonly used to defeat anti-theft devices were also recovered and several stolen credit cards, per the police.

The cops said that the investigation uncovered evidence that the suspected tool thieves were connected to similar past arrests in other cities and that the merchandise was being stolen for later resale, per PD.

Both of the suspects — whose identities have yet to be released — were booked into the Solano County Jail. 

The two are now facing a variety of charges including possession of stolen property, conspiracy, and narcotics-related offenses.
