A former Russian spy has detailed the stomach-churning way he narrowly escaped President Vladimir Putin’s death squad — by hiding inside a dead cow’s carcass.

Dmitry Senin, 47, was a top-ranking Federal Security Service agent when the Kremlin suddenly accused him of being a traitor after he started probing a potentially corrupt cop back in 2017, the Telegraph reported.

Senin, who had had the highest level of security clearance in Russia at the time, said he spent years trying to clear his name before eventually plotting his escape when Putin’s troops invaded Ukraine in early 2022.

With the help of a network of smugglers and trusted contacts, Senin claimed he put on a gas mask and rubber suit before sliding into the cow’s dead remains near the Kazakhstan border.

As an extra precaution, he also wrapped himself in tin foil to prevent being detected by thermal cameras.

Smugglers posing as farmers then hauled the dead cow onto a tractor and drove Senin over the border before dumping the carcass in a known animal “graveyard.”

“I just needed to be thrown over the Kazakhstan border,” Senin said.

He then stayed inside the carcass for roughly an hour so border guards wouldn’t notice him.

“I’m a soldier,” he said. “Fear is an emotion that you have to control, and I assessed the risk, and I knew that no one was going to shoot at the cow.”

The plan of escape took roughly two months to organize, Senin claimed, adding he chose the dead of winter so maggots wouldn’t plague the rotting remains.

Ultimately, Senin said he crawled from the cow’s remains and fled on foot to a pre-arranged meeting spot where a retired KGB officer helped him flee to Montenegro.

“I had no foreign intelligence assistance, no pre-planned route and a bag containing only basic personal necessities,” he said of his brazen escape.

“I stepped on to the path of a man living outside the law. It was the decision of someone who had reached a clear conclusion: to stay meant prison and after that death.”
