Brilliant Minds has been canceled at NBC ahead of Season 3 after its sophomore season saw a decline in ratings, per Variety.

The Zachary Quinto-led drama, which premiered in 2024, followed a Dr. Oliver Wolf (Quinto) and his team of doctors at Bronx General Hospital where they navigate various medical mysteries and patient care. The series is based on the work of author and neurologist Oliver Sacks, who wrote The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars.

Nielsen Live+7 data revealed Season 2 saw a drop in viewers compared to Season 1. Season finale drew 4.2 million viewers in January 2025, compared to 3.67 million viewers for the Season 2 premiere or 2.6 million viewers that tuned into the most recent episode, according to Variety.

The decision to cancel the series comes after Season 2 was suddenly pulled from its Monday evening slot in the NBC primetime schedule after the 2026 Winter Olympics and replaced by The Voice: Battle of Champions.

The series had returned in September 2025 with 14 episodes, but the final six episodes will now begin airing Wednesday, May 27.
