Cam Skattebo is not planning to tone it down.

The Giants running back is working his way back from the gruesome dislocated ankle that ended his rookie season, but he made it clear this week that the injury will not change the physical style that made him stand out.

“It ain’t gonna change who I am,” Skattebo said Wednesday on “The Insiders.”

“I had an injury, you know, it is what it is. I’ve still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left, I’m not going to let this little ankle thing bother me.”

Then came the line Giants fans will like most.

“I’m going to get back [to] running people over like you see on the videos,” Skattebo said. “It’s going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out.”

Skattebo quickly became a fan favorite as a fourth-round rookie in 2025, bringing a bruising, contact-heavy style to the Giants’ backfield before his season was cut short in Week 8.

He finished with 617 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns before the ankle injury ended his year.

The running back has since been working his way back, taking part in limited 11-on-11 drills during the Giants’ mandatory minicamp last week.

He also showed off his progress at Brian Burns’ celebrity softball game, performing a backflip at home plate and later saying it was the first one he had done since the injury.

That moment already suggested Skattebo was not moving like someone planning to play cautiously.

His comments made it even clearer.

Skattebo has said he expects to be ready for Week 1, and his return could give the Giants another physical option in a backfield that also includes Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary.

With the Giants entering their first season under head coach John Harbaugh, Skattebo’s hard-nosed style could give the offense a different edge if he returns to full strength.

For now, the message from Skattebo is simple.

The ankle injury may have ended his rookie season.

It did not change the way he plans to play.
