It’s the end of an era on the April 25 episode of Duck Dynasty: The Revival, as longtime Duck Commander fixture John Godwin makes a major career move—retiring (or, as everyone keeps carefully putting it, semi-retiring). Naturally, Willie Robertson doesn’t treat the moment as just a farewell. Instead, he sees it as an opportunity to finally chase one of his own long-held dreams: directing a Western.

Meanwhile, the next generation of Duckmen-in-training—Christian Huff and Jacob Mayo—remain stuck in boot camp mode, with Jase Robertson and Jay Stone continuing to put them through a new round of increasingly absurd challenges.

After more than 25 years with Duck Commander, Godwin decides it’s time to step back, prompting Korie Robertson to plan a themed sendoff party. Her idea is simple: a Western-inspired celebration nodding to Godwin’s bull-riding past. Willie, however, immediately takes things several steps further by pitching an original Western film starring Godwin himself.

The plot, as Willie lays it out, is part spaghetti Western, part fever dream. A mysterious hero arrives in town, vanishes, and is replaced by a “co-hero” who ultimately steals the spotlight—and the girl—after surviving a “blood-bath gun fight.” Yes, Willie casts himself as the co-hero, Godwin as the hero, Uncle Si as the chaotic villain, Justin Martin as comic relief, Korie as the damsel in distress, and John Luke Robertson behind the bar.

As production ramps up, costumes are pulled from Jacob and Bella’s vintage shop, while Korie continues lobbying for something simpler—ideally just a mechanical bull and cake. Godwin, for his part, is mostly just happy about the cake. But Willie’s vision wins out, and filming begins on what is eventually titled “The Godwin, The Bad, The Ugly.”

John Luke briefly steps in as co-director… at least in theory. In practice, he’s quickly demoted to assistant director. Si demands script changes. Retakes pile up. Korie eventually retreats from set entirely after one too many takes.

Still, the production limps toward a finale: a barroom showdown, a mechanical bull cameo from Si, and a premiere screening that—against all odds—actually goes over well. There’s even a mishap involving a plaque meant to read one way but ending up with a far more memorable inscription: “Forever Fart of Our Flock.” Godwin, importantly, still gets his cake.

Elsewhere, Jacob and Christian push through the final phase of “Operation De-Yupafication,” tackling aquatic retrieval missions in a pirogue, decoy-collecting races, and a golf ball shootout. Jacob edges ahead overall, but Christian manages a redemption moment on the final challenge. In the end, the instructors deliver their verdict: “They are not the worst Duckmen I’ve ever seen,” awarding both trainees a reluctant thumbs-up.
