Page Six staff shares the books they're buying this Mother's Day.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, but there’s still time to find your mom the perfect book.

Page Six staffers previously revealed their best Mother’s Day gifts and now they’re sharing their favorite book recommendations.

From stories of magical family curses to powerful memoirs by inspiring women, this year’s list has something for every mom.

“Practical Magic” by Alice Hoffman

“If your only exposure to this story is the Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman movie, then you only think you know the story. As beloved as that film is, it’s widely different from the book, which is an equally charming story of women spanning generations. It’s got lots of magic, weirdness, and mother/daughter relationships, including straightforward connections and relationships with aunts that are ‘mother figures.'” — Lauren Sarner, TV Reporter

“One Italian Summer” by Rebecca Serle

Illustration of the book cover "One Italian Summer" by Rebecca Serle, showing a balcony overlooking the sea and an Italian coastal town.

“I absolutely adored this story around the relationship between a mother and her daughter and can see any mothers finding an enjoyment in this sweet and emotional story, with a touch of magical realism. Especially for all the girl moms! Also, the backdrop in Italy was beautiful and summery and made me want to hop a plane ride ASAP.” — Nicole Mazza, Deputy Photo Editor

“Crying in H Mart” by Michelle Zauner

“My book club read this book a month after my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer a few years ago. I initially thought I wouldn’t be able to handle the parallels between Michelle’s story and my own, but I still look back at this book as one that helped me feel less alone during that time.” — Lindsey Kupfer, Deputy Editor

“Kin” by Tayari Jones

Book cover for Tayari Jones' "KIN" with a floral illustration and "Oprah's Book Club" seal.

“I love books that make me cry and ‘Kin’ by Tayari Jones made me weep. It’s a book about family and friendship and a devastating tragedy. Oh, yes, and Oprah picked it for her book club.” — Nicki Gostin, Senior Reporter

“Second Life: Having a Child in the Digital Age” by Amanda Hess

“I listened to the audiobook of Amanda Hess’ debut book while I was pregnant expecting something more akin to a parenting guide from a reporter I admire. Instead, what I got is more like a winding, scientific exploration of her own personal experiences that was surprisingly gripping. A good gift for an expecting mom friend who has a skeptical streak.” — Melissa Minton, Senior Style Editor

“Fifth Avenue Glamour Girl” by Renée Rosen

Book cover for "Fifth Avenue Glamour Girl" by Renée Rosen, featuring a woman in a turquoise dress, black gloves, and a feathered hat.

“If your mom is anything like my mom and I, who both share a love for fashion and New York City, this historical fiction about Estée Lauder is a great Mother’s Day book option. Bonus points if she uses Estée Lauder products — she’ll have a lot of fun reading this book, which also has great reviews.” — Antoinette Bueno, Reporter

“Strangers” by Belle Burden

“Protect your mom on Mother’s Day.” — Tori Schneebaum, Photo Director

“Matriarch” by Tina Knowles

Book cover for "Matriarch: A Memoir" by Tina Knowles, featuring a portrait of Tina Knowles with an Oprah's Book Club 2025 sticker.

“This book is a perfect gift for Mother’s Day because Tina Knowles is an inspiration to women everywhere for how she balanced a career and raising two stars like Beyoncé and Solange. Knowles talks about her family history, her divorces and how she overcame heartbreak to become the public figure we know today.” — Tamantha Ryan, Reporter

“To the Lighthouse” by Virginia Woolf

Book cover illustration for Virginia Woolf's "To the Lighthouse" with abstract shapes in peach, orange, and deep purple.

“Virginia Woolf’s 1927 ‘stream of consciousness’ novel is a deeply insightful exploration of a mother’s memory, told through the Ramsay family’s stays at their Scottish summer home. Themes of family dynamics, grief, and the passage of time punctuate a profoundly moving narrative about the life of a mother of eight. For seasoned readers especially, it makes a perfect Mother’s Day offering.” — Audrey Rock, Reporter

Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt

Illustration of the book cover for "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt, featuring an orange octopus and a woman with blue hair, set against a blue background with colorful coral.

“Just in time for the Netflix adaptation, this heartwarming story between the relationship of an aquarium worker and its octopus (dabbled with a hint of mystery) is the perfect book to gift to your mom if she enjoys a sentimental read with a beautiful commentary on the trials of life and getting older.” — Nicole Mazza, Deputy Photo Editor

“The Correspondent” by Virginia Evans

Illustration of the book cover for "The Correspondent" by Virginia Evans, featuring two robins on a wooden fence.

“‘The Correspondent,’ an epistolary novel following a woman named Sybil Van Antwerp as she reflects on her life, is the perfect gift for Mother’s Day. It’s getting a ton of hype right now, and for good reason. The novel is moving and sits with you long after you finish — plus Jane Fonda was just cast in the adaptation. — Lindsey Kupfer, Deputy Editor

“Zariz” by Adeena Sussman

Cover for Adeena Sussman's "Zariz" cookbook, showing sesame-crusted chicken and watermelon salad on a blue background.

“If your mom loves to cook, I recommend Adeena Sussman’s latest cookbook, ‘Zariz.’ It’s full of uncomplicated, delicious recipes that are simple, but full of flavor.” — Nicki Gostin, Senior Reporter
