Evanna Howell, an employee of Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing NASCAR team, was arrested on Saturday after she allegedly ran over an elderly man in a golf cart while at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

The incident took place at the famed race track at around 1:49 p.m., according to a Concord Police Department arrest report obtained by The California Post on Friday.

Howell had been operating a golf cart at the venue when she turned into a gate “going the wrong direction,” the report stated.

“When Howell went the wrong direction,” police officers wrote in the report, “two people that were directing traffic attempted to get Howell’s attention.

“Howell then turned the vehicle around and hit the curb. Howell then hit one of the pedestrians pushing him into the fence and then running him over.”

The report identified the pedestrian as Dennis Manchester, a 77-year-old who was taken to a nearby hospital “with several serious injuries.”

His current condition is not known — Manchester told The Post on Friday he “was not talking to anybody” about the situation.

Cabarrus County court records show Howell was jailed and charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon serious injury. Her mug shot showed she was wearing a 23XI Racing sweatshirt at the time of her arrest.

NASCAR wrote in a statement on Wednesday that Howell had been “indefinitely suspended from NASCAR” over a “behavioral” matter, though it did not elaborate further.

23XI Racing, which is co-owned by Jordan and Denny Hamlin, has not yet publicly commented on the incident.

Howell had been working as a 23XI Racing senior account manager, according to her LinkedIn page. Records show she was released from custody on $125,000 bond on Tuesday and is due back in court for a probable cause hearing on June 16.

Attempts to reach Howell and her attorney for comment on Friday were unsuccessful.
