Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Councilman Chi Ossé are in the wrong field: As they proved this week, they belong in show business, not politics.

On Wednesday, the hard-left Ossé put on several acts — first as a protester of nonexistent “deed theft” to block a lawful eviction, then by ignoring cops and resisting their attempts to arrest him and finally by heading to the hospital to check for supposed injuries from the cops.

Mamdani instantly responded with his own charade: “I have seen the concerning footage of Council Member Chi Ossé’s arrest earlier today and am in touch with [NYPD] Commissioner [Jessica] Tisch about the nature of the arrest,” the mayor said. 

And for good measure: “It is a pleasure to work alongside Council Member Ossé, a leader in his community and a partner in building a safer and more affordable New York City.”

Their goal was to defame cops and undermine law-and-order.

Mamdani was expressing “concern” about how the cops supposedly mistreated a lawbreaking lawmaker.

The right thing would’ve been to deplore Ossé’s lawlessness and defend the cops, who tried for 90 minutes to get the councilman and his fellow protesters not to interfere with a lawful eviction.

Yet it took the mayor almost a week to say anything about the senseless killing of Queens teen Jaden Pierre. 

He even skipped the vigil for the dead boy, prompting justified outrage from the boy’s grieving mom. 

Far more important to Hizzoner was the “horror” of what happened to Ossé (like Mamdani, a pampered child of privilege) after he defied officers trying to stop him and his crew of thugs from blocking a gate and flailed about when they tried to restrain him. 

Ossé is now trying to claim police misconduct. What a laugher.

Still doubt Ossé’s stunt was just performative? Then consider that even state Attorney General Letitia James — who never met a leftist cause she wouldn’t bend the law for — determined there was no “deed theft” at all in this case.

Meanwhile, the tragic murder of a child was clearly low on the mayor’s list of “concerns.” 

Since that day, he found time: to express solidarity not with the family but with building workers who threatened to strike; to pose for a pic with former President Barack Obama; and to release a new sizzle reel congratulating himself for his “achievements.” 

Ossé and Mamdani both clearly have talent — in theatrics. 

But given their vile values, New Yorkers would be better off if they’d steered clear of politics.
