All Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) wanted was a fresh start! From this first official trailer for Dutton Ranch, Paramount+’s new original drama series, audiences see that our favorite Montanans will have to fight to make a life for themselves in Rio Paloma, Texas. Premiering globally on Paramount+ on Friday, May 15, with the first two episodes, the Yellowstone spinoff series follows the couple as they encounter new hardships and worthy foes in their struggle to build a ranch of their own.

The trailer kicks off with Beth and Rip staring out over their newly acquired property from their porch, longing for Montana. “I miss waking up to the mountains,” says Rip wistfully. “This life here is gonna work isn’t it?” asks Beth. “We’ll make it work,” replies Rip assuredly, but the next scene cuts to him walking the property with a shotgun and discovering a dead body.

Next, the trailer cuts to Beth’s first encounter with Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening), a ruthless rival ranch owner. “You bought the Edwards ranch,” observes Beluah. “It’s the Dutton ranch now,” replies Beth smoothly as Beluah stares at her icily. The following scene shows Beth in her stables meeting Everett McKinney (Ed Harris), the town’s veterinarian. “You met Miss Rio Paloma herself,” says Everett, referring to Beluah. “She’s an acquired taste.”

The trailer then cuts to a later sit down between Beluah and Beth. “My ranch is 190 years old, and I’ve worked very hard to protect it,” warns Beluah. A montage of images follows featuring Beluah staring icily at Rip and Beth at a local rodeo. “Rip and Beth have secrets, and people with secrets can be useful, corruptible even,” muses Beluah to Rob-Will (Jai Courtney), her ranch foreman.

The next sequence shows Rob-Will in a truck with a lighted flame before cutting to what appears to be Rip and Beth watching their land burn. “No one will understand what we’ve done to protect this ranch. No one knows what we’d do to hold on to it,” says Rob-Will ominously to someone off-screen.

The trailer cuts to Rip talking to his wranglers, Zachariah (Marc Menchaca) and Azul (J.R. Villarreal), as Beth watches . “If either one of you want to walk, I won’t hold it against you,” says Rip as he prepares to go to war. “We’re with you,” says Azul firmly. “We’ll be right next to you,” says Beth. Rip loads his shotgun in reply.

What follows is a montage of pulse-pounding images including a gunfight, a body being dragged, a medevac helicopter landing, explosions, and even a cheetah roaring! The trailer ends with Rip and Beth talking. “I wanted peace,” says Beth. “You can’t chase peace; you gotta live it,” replies Rip. “Then peace will have to wait,” says Beth simply.
