You can soak up not just the sun but creativity in Sag Harbor, where famed writers — from John Steinbeck and Herman Melville to Betty Friedan and Spalding Gray — once lived and worked.

Now, a four-bedroom retreat owned by Robert Schenkkan (the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning playwright and screenwriter behind “Hacksaw Ridge,” “The Kentucky Cycle” and “All the Way”) is available to rent for $60,000 for July and $75,000 from August to Labor Day.

The two-story traditional home, on a cul-de-sac at 12 Partridge Drive, isn’t far from Sag Harbor Village.

Schenkkan will be working on a new play in Lisbon, Portugal, this summer with the Mala Voadora theater company.

“After the twice-daily beach swims — minutes away — the thing I will miss most is sitting in the hot tub watching the squirrels chase each other around the 30-foot Red Oaks,” Schenkkan tells Gimme. “The last several years, I’ve shared that view with the family of wild rabbits that joins us in late afternoons on the lawn for a snack. There are boundaries — I don’t share my Negroni. They seem OK with that.”

The home, close to beaches and a farm stand, features a “dreamy garden with specimen trees, a pool and hot tub, and an extra-large patio for entertaining,” notes listing broker Rima Mardoyan Smyth of Douglas Elliman.
