A massive brawl involving at least 14 tourists has erupted at a popular Bali nightclub.

Shocking footage of the tussle appears to show several men brazenly fighting and bashing liquor bottles over each other, leaving shards of broken glass and what appears to be blood everywhere.

The incident took place at an after-dark hotspot, Jade by Todd English, an upscale nightclub in Canggu that is popular with foreigners, according to the Bali Times.

The incident unfolded just after 1 a.m. on May 22 when two groups of tourists, who were sitting next to each other, began having a heated verbal dispute about an undisclosed issue.

Things quickly escalated after one tourist allegedly threw a drinking glass towards the other group, suddenly triggering a huge brawl right in the middle of the busy venue.

The viral clip appears to show several men suffering from injuries caused by broken glass bottles, with what appears to be blood visible on the nightclub floor.

Other patrons quickly rushed out in a panic as the fight continued, with some using liquor bottles and shattered glass as weapons during the brawl.

Other guests can be seen trying to intervene, while the club’s security guards also stepped in to try to separate the men.

Some individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, the Bali Times reported.

A spokesperson for the local Badung Police confirmed officers had attended the scene.

“We can confirm that a fight occurred between two groups of foreign nationals,” police public relations officers, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, said in a statement.

“The police chief and the criminal investigation unit went directly to the scene to gather witness statements and review CCTV footage.”

Police revealed the fight involved 14 foreign nationals, divided into two groups of seven, and added that they believe alcohol consumption and the nightclub’s crowded condition contributed to the brawl.

The Bali Times reported that around 462 guests entered and exited the venue that night, despite the room’s estimated ideal capacity being under 100.

As the investigation unfolded, Badung Police temporarily shut down operations at the nightclub.

Authorities are still investigating the identities of those involved.

Back in February, drunk foreigners were filmed bashing up security guards outside of the highly popular Finns Beach Club in Canggu.

Several tourists, including one identified as an Australian, were involved, with a police spokesperson stating that it was triggered by a commotion that began inside the club.

Security reportedly spotted one of the alleged perpetrators strangling another guest after an altercation involving a woman.

“Security tried to control the situation and remove the guests, but once outside, the guests began to rebel against the guards,” police said.

The confronting footage showed the shirtless foreign tourists assaulting security with blocks of wood before fleeing the scene.

“Let’s go, bro, let’s go,” one of them is heard saying.

According to police, the tourists then fled the scene.

Last year, Bali doubled down on its zero-tolerance approach to unruly tourists, particularly those who break the law, after tightening its rules for international visitors.

On March 24, 2025, Bali governor Wayan Koster revealed he updated the ‘do’s and don’ts’ list that was released back in 2023 that outlines obligations, prohibitions, and penalties for forgivers.

“We issued a similar regulation before, but as things change, we need to adapt,” he said during a press conference at the time.

“This ensures that Bali’s tourism remains respectful, sustainable, and in harmony with our local values.”

The guidelines focus on ensuring respectful behaviour when visiting sacred sites and enforcing the payment of Bali’s tourist levy.

The 150,000 IDR ($15) tourist levy came into effect on February 14, 2024, with plans to use the money to help protect Bali’s culture, customs, and environment.
