You might be missing out on the next big streaming service.

According to new numbers from Antenna, Roku’s low-cost streaming service Howdy is showing some promising subscriber and retention rates. Could it be worth your $2.99, too?

After launching in August 2025, the streamer reportedly nabbed 300,000 subscribers in the very first month, with about 100,000 more joining every month after. Antenna also reports 51% of users who subscribed in August and September 2025 were still subscribed six months later, which is higher than the premium streamers (such as HBO Max, Paramount+ and Starz) average of 47% or the specialty streamers (BritBox, Crunchyroll, AMC+ and more) average of 38%.

Speaking to Deadline when the service first launched, Roku founder and CEO Anthony Wood said Howdy was launched in “response to the reality that many consumers are interested in a service that is ad-free and low-cost.”

“We feel Howdy is in an excellent position to win over those viewers who want to unwind with some of their favorite movies and TV shows, uninterrupted,” Wood stated.

So, what’s streaming on Howdy, and is it worth your $2.99?
