The Way Home is now halfway through its fourth and final season, and more lies ahead for our favorite family of time travelers.

The Way Home Season 4, Episode 5, “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” aired on Hallmark Channel on Sunday night (May 17), and saw Nick (Kerry James) relish taking his first jump into the pond with Kat (Chyler Leigh) back to 1925, to see if they can track down Elliot’s (Evan Williams) mother Tessa. Meanwhile Elliot and Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) time travel to 1979, where Alice learns that younger Del (Julia Tomasone) had a miscarriage.

While sitting down with DECIDER alongside Leigh and Laflamme-Snow ahead of the premiere of The Way Home Season 4, Williams said that “it was really cool to have Elliot have a mission” this season through the search for his mother, teasing that “it’s really exciting to sort of be a dog on a bone a little bit.”

“And we’re hoping that it’s going to be really revelatory for the audience as well, because we’ve seen these characters kind of grow and we’ve seen what’s happened underneath the surface,” he added. “But Elliot’s always been a bit of an enigma […] there’s like a pain corner that we haven’t really gone into. And so it’s nice to be able to shine some light and bring some healing, and that’s something that the show does really well.”

The official date for The Way Home Season 4’s release on Netflix has not yet been confirmed, though according to The Hollywood Reporter, Season 4 should hit Netflix in late 2026.
