'Dutton Ranch' Episode 6 Kills [SPOILER] In Jaw-Dropping Twist
Nicole Gallucci · 2026-06-12 · via New York Post

Published June 12, 2026, 9:00 a.m. ET

We’re more than halfway through Dutton Ranch Season 1, and the bodies are piling up.

Early in the season, Rip (Cole Hauser) tossed Wes Ayers’ (Nakoa DeCoite) body into a makeshift Texas Train Station. Episode 4 saw him take out his entire herd of cattle. Episode 5 featured the heartbreaking death of a beloved character. And Episode 6’s unexpected casualty will make viewers jaws drop…

Spoilers for Dutton Ranch Episode 6 ahead.

Dutton Ranch‘s sixth episode saw Rip (Cole Hauser) start his job as Beulah’s (Annette Bening) ranch foreman, while she and Beth (Kelly Reilly) took an important business meeting with Frontier Hospitality Group’s Zane Nash (Marlon Young) that ended with a concerning Yellowstone callback. We also saw the return of Rob-Will Jackson (Jai Courtney), who teamed up with former 10 Petal Ranch foreman Chet Davis (Hart Denton) to seek their revenge.

Before the end credits rolled, another gunshot rang out and took a life. So who died in Dutton Ranch Episode 6? Read on for answers.

Who Dies In Dutton Ranch Episode 6?

Since Rip fired Chet, he had loads of free time, which he dedicated to hanging, commiserating, and drinking with fellow 10 Petal outcast Rob-Will. But make no mistake, Chet wasn’t over losing his job yet…

“I gave my goddamn blood and sweat to this family. Upheld my end of the deal, kept my mouth shut about everything y’all done, and still y’all throw me out on my ass?” Chet asked Rob-Will.

“You only get tossed out on your ass if you let ’em push you,” he responded. “A weak man goes through life without ever standing up for himself ’cause he starts counting the cost of fighting. That’s a coward’s heart. Now I don’t want to believe that’s what’s inside of you.”

Rob-Will’s words both struck a nerve and fueled Chet, who replied, “Motherfucker, you know it ain’t.”

Later in the episode, Rob-Will called a pal to bring a heavy duty selection of weapons to the hotel, so he and Chet could arm themselves. Chet decided he’d rather be the hunter than the hunted, and later that night as the two friends drank together, they acknowledged the strong bond that had grown between them.

“I knew you had fight. Knew you’d always have my back,” Rob-Will told Chet. “I know we ain’t blood, but I like to think we’re brothers. You’re the one I should have had… Nobody understands what we done to protect this ranch. And no one knows what we’d do to hold onto it. Everything. This is your home. Your family. We ain’t gonna let nobody take what’s rightfully ours.”

The next time we saw Chet he was alone, smoking a cigarette, and strutting down the Jackson driveway. He hid behind a tree until Rob-Will’s actual brother Joaquin Jackson (Juan Pablo Raba) returned home, and once he walksedinto the driveway, Chet jumped out, held Joaquin at gunpoint, and said, “Hey motherfucker, I got your attention now, huh?”

Joaquin, majorly taken off-guard, putshis hands up to surrender and unsuccessfully tried to talk Chet down. “No matter how dirty, how shitty, I did everything you and Ms. Beulah asked. I risked my goddamn life. I though of y’all as family,” an emotional Chet explained. He reminded Joaquin that he said there were only two ways to leave the ranch, being paid off or being killed. And then he followed through on his threat and shot Joaquin in the hand.

When the gunshot rang out, Rip’s ears perked up in the field, but he wasn’t the only one who clocked the concerning noise. Before Chet could finish the job, Miguel (Berto Colon) appeared on scene and shot Chet in the face. He fell backwards, dead, seconds before Rip rolled up the driveway in his truck. Rip was clearly not pleased to be caught up more Jackson drama, but when Joaquin told him Chet’s actions were a result of his departure from the ranch, Rip felt a pang of guilt and offered to get him help for his hand. Well aware that they couldn’t go to a hospital, Rip drove to Emmett’s (Ed Harris) house for a quick fix — but not before he asked Joaquin who put that dead body on his property.

Joaquin told Rip that his foolish brother was to blame and explained the unfortunate Wes situation. “I don’t know why Rob-Will chose your land. If you ask him he probably wouldn’t either,” Joaquin said, promising Rip that Rob-Will was in an Arizona rehab center and was “never coming back” or he’d “fucking kill him.”

Unbeknownst to the 10 Petal boys, Rob-Will is indeed back in Rio Paloma. So could Dutton Ranch Episode 7 feature yet another death?! Stay tuned!

New episodes of Dutton Ranch premiere Fridays on Paramount+ and Paramount Network.
