Tom Hardy may already be finished with MobLand.

According to a new report from Variety, the actor is not expected to return for a possible third season of the Paramount+ crime drama, even as the series continues to perform well for the streamer. While Paramount+ has yet to officially renew MobLand, another season has been widely anticipated after the show became one of the platform’s biggest titles following its debut last year.

Hardy was allegedly not brought back after tensions behind the scenes involving executive producer Jez Butterworth, 101 Studios, and others connected to the production. Season 2 has already completed filming, with production reportedly wrapping in March.

Representatives for Hardy, Butterworth, Paramount+, and 101 Studios have not publicly commented on the report.

Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, the fixer tasked with cleaning up problems for the powerful Harrigan crime family. The series was created by Ronan Bennett and stars Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine alongside Hardy. Brosnan and Mirren lead the family as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, while Considine plays their son Kevin.

If Hardy does ultimately leave the show, it would mark a major shift for the series moving forward. Harry has been positioned at the center of much of the show’s action, often acting as the bridge between the Harrigans’ internal family drama and the violence surrounding their criminal operation. Exactly how the series would explain his absence remains unclear.

The report also points to Hardy’s previous history of reported on-set conflict, including his well-documented issues with Charlize Theron during the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road. Director George Miller previously said the actor had to be “coaxed out of his trailer,” while Kyle Buchanan’s book Blood, Sweat, and Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road described Hardy as “aggressive” during production.
