Brand New announces ‘The Devil and God Are Raging Inside ...

Brand New is looking backwards.

Starting in late September, Jesse Lacey’s beloved emo outfit will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal 2006 album “The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me” at arenas, ballrooms, pavilions, theaters and auditoriums all over North America.

That includes a stop at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Monday, Oct. 12.

In the off-chance you haven’t listened to “The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me” in the past decade, the impassioned, fist-pumping record is known for spawning fan favorite tracks “Jesus Christ,” “Sowing Season (Yeah),” “Degausser,” “Millstone” and “You Won’t Know” among others.

“‘The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me’ blew up teen angst to literally biblical proportions, resonating like no emo band before or since to outcasts in Sunday school and high school,” Pitchfork noted in an overwhelmingly positive 2016 review, a year before Lacey was accused of grooming and inappropriate behavior with a minor.

This forthcoming run of fall shows — 16 to be exact — comes on the heels of Brand New’s comeback 2025 run, the group’s first concerts since 2017 when the allegations against Lacey surfaced.

On their ’25 outing, the Long Island natives headlined at arenas all over the U.S., Canada and the UK.

Based on our findings at Set List FM, they went all out when they visited Belmont Park’s UBS Arena on July 2, performing a whopping 27 songs including tracks from 2003’s “Deja Entendu,” 2009’s “Daisy,” 2017’s “Science Fiction” and, of course nine from “The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me.”

Plus, they threw in a cover of Neutral Milk Hotel’s “Two-Headed Boy, Pt. Two” as well.

As for what they play this time outside of “The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me,” we can’t say for certain.

All we know is the best way to find out is live.

Tickets officially go on sale for the ‘7 Years + 13 of The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me in Concert Tour’ to the general public on Friday, June 26 at 12 am local time through Ticketmaster but are available now on trusted secondary market sites like SeatGeek.

What songs are on “The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me”?

As a quick refresher, here all the songs on Brand New’s critically-acclaimed, 12-track album:

01.) “Sowing Season (Yeah)”

02.) “Millstone”

03.) “Jesus Christ”

04.) “Degausser”

05.) “Limousine (MS Rebridge)”

06.) “You Won’t Know”

07.) “Welcome to Bangkok”

08.) “Not the Sun”

09.) “Luca”

10.) “Untitled”

11.) “The Archers’ Bows Have Broken”

12.) “Handcuffs”

According to SeatGeek, “Brand New concerts tend to be intense and communal rather than casual. Expect loud singalongs, long emotional builds and a crowd that knows every word. Production has traditionally leaned more toward mood than spectacle, with lighting and atmosphere doing much of the work.”

What was the Jesse Lacey controversy?

In November 2017, Nicole Elizabeth Garvey and Emily Driskill came forward and shared that Lacey had allegedly pushed them into sending nude photos and taking part in illicit acts while underage in the early aughts, which led to years-long trauma.

“I am sorry for how I have hurt people, mistreated them, lied and cheated,” Lacey wrote in a response via the band’s Facebook page. “I am sorry for ignoring the way in which my position, status and power as a member of a band affected the way people viewed me or their approach to their interactions with me. And I am sorry for how often I have not afforded women the respect, support or honesty that they deserved, and which is their right. I believe in the equality and autonomy of all, but in my life I have been more of a detriment to these ideals than an advocate.”

Garvey responded, “He knew what he was doing was s—-y so he wouldn’t touch me until I was 19. I should’ve known better by then, but he had screwed me up so much psychologically that all I wanted was his approval. It f—ed me up to the point that I STILL have nightmares and wakeup in a sweat. I still breakdown and have panic attacks when people play Brand New in a bar.”

Huge groups on tour in 2026

If you were rocking skinny jeans in the early ’00s, we have a hunch that you might be excited about quite a few big-name acts on the road these next few months.

Here are just five of our favorites you won’t want to miss live.

• My Chemical Romance

• Jimmy Eat World

• The Strokes

• Minus The Bear

• Taking Back Sunday with Thrice and Saves The Day

Also, keep an eye out for the Vans Warped Tour, which is making its way through North America from now up until November.
