The Devil Wears Prada is returning with its highly anticipated sequel during a time where fashion, media and success are very different, say movie stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt in a new ABC News Live Prime with Linsey Davis interview.

In a clip shared exclusively with DECIDER, the actors sat down with Linsey Davis to talk about how much the industry has changed ahead of the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which lands in theaters May 1. The revelatory interview drops some hints about what fans can expect from Andrea and Miranda in the new sequel.

After Davis points out that these topics of success and work-life balance “really kind of hits you in the face in this movie,” Streep notes that the movie also explores “what you’re willing to do to get ahead and how you negotiate with your conscience about how far you’re gonna do, how maybe you don’t want to do that.”

Tucci then takes aim at influencer culture. “What constitutes success today is very different than what constituted success 20 years ago. What constitutes success today, especially for a lot of younger people, is, ‘Look how many followers I have,'” he says, adding, “But what are they following? What are they doing? It’s nothing, it’s pulp.”

Tucci says this is “a huge issue” and could be “one of the reasons why journalism is disappearing.”

Streep reveals in the new interview that the movie picks up 20 years after the events of the original, where Hathaway’s character Andrea took her career “in another direction” after leaving Miranda and Runway magazine.

She also reveals in the upcoming interview that the costumes from the movie will be auctioned off to benefit the Committee to Protect Journalists, a nonprofit organization that promotes press freedom internationally.

“That world is under siege,” Streep commented, prompting Tucci to add, “It’s under siege from so many different directions, it’s under siege from AI, from what I just talked about, from governments.”

The Devil Wears Prada 2 follows Streep’s Miranda Priestly as she navigates her career in the declining magazine industry, bringing her to face off against her former assistant Emily (Blunt), who is now working as a high-powered executive who can give Miranda the advertising dollar she desperately needs.

The complete interview with The Devil Wears Prada stars will air Monday, April 27 on ABC News Live Prime with Linsey Davis, which can be streamed on Disney+, Hulu, The Roku Channel, YouTube TV and more.

ABC News Live Prime with Linsey Davis airs weeknights at 7 p.m. ET.
