Bonnie Tyler has been rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

The “Total Eclipse of the Heart” singer, 74, was admitted to a hospital in Portugal for emergency intestinal surgery, according to a statement on her official website shared Wednesday.

“We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery,” it read.

“The surgery went well and she is now recuperating,” the statement continued. “We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.”

Tyler’s reps did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for further comment.

The Welsh singer first achieved fame in the late ’70s with hits like “Lost in France” and “It’s a Heartache.”

However, it wasn’t until 1983’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and her record “Faster Than the Speed of Night” that Tyler reached global superstardom.

“I still get excited when I hear the song on the radio,” Tyler said of her hit song during an interview on “Good Morning America” in April 2024.

“Every time the eclipse comes, everyone all over the world plays ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart,’ and I never get tired of singing it,” she added.

The pop-rock icon continued her massive success with “Holding Out for a Hero,” which she recorded in 1984 for the “Footloose” soundtrack.

Tyler’s emergency surgery in Portugal came just days before her 2026 European tour was set to kick off in Malta on May 22.

The singer opened up about the upcoming tour and her health during a chat with Hello earlier this year.

“I’m fit enough at the moment, touch wood, and I’m really enjoying doing the shows,” Tyler told the outlet in March. “I’m still rocking on that stage with my wonderful band, and if you’ve got your health, you’ve got everything.”

She continued, “I have had problems with my knees; I didn’t have new knees, I had what they call washouts, which turned out to be very successful. So, hopefully that will last for a long time.”

Although Tyler acknowledged she’s “slowed down” in recent years, the three-time Grammy nominee has refused to retire.

“I started singing when I was 17, and I never thought I’d still be doing it at this age,” she told the Mirror last year, per WalesOnline. “I’ve slowed down a little bit, but I know now that I will never retire.”

It’s currently unclear if the singer’s emergency surgery will affect her upcoming tour of Europe.
